Re: vs Wycombe

A midfield ball winner is good!
But without an out and out striker, we are going nowhere fast

Re: vs Wycombe

Personally, I couldn't leave on Saturday, but I wished I could. Why did we leave our best central defenders out of the 16? Roberts and Webb together have played really well, but they seem to be taking the flak for the inability of the rest of the team. For me the starting 11 against Chester should be:
Arthur (I believe he is ready), Richardson, Webb, Roberts and Edwards, Boco (assuming he is fit), Craney, Mannix (assuming we have international clearance) and Todd (he and Boco to switch wings when necessary), Mullin and McGivern up front (again why is he not playing. Subs: Thomas (didn't impress me that much) Fearon/Dunbavin, Whalley, Harris and Doughty. what do others think?

Interesting - but Rommy looked an overweight stroller to me in the 2 games I saw on TV. I would put Thomas in his place as he looked pretty nifty and capable of getting up and down the pitch. But then again no place for Proccy and what about the 2 young lads................?

The big problem with Webb, Edwards and Roberts is that they have no pace. Richardson isn't the quickest, but he is better than the others. If you play all those together you are always going to be vulnerable to pace, which is why I think Coleman kept playing Williams. Rocky isn't the best, but he has been quick enough to get back when the defence has been split apart.

Coleman now has the problem of playing inexperienced, but more pacey defenders, or more experienced, but slower players. On Saturday he tried to balance the two by playing Branch and Thomas. It didn't really work.

I'm not Cav's biggest fan, but when he's fit he does have more pace than Edwards and he doesn't allow many to pass him on the outside. I think we lack pace throughout the team, which has cost us so many times. Wycombe had tonnes of pace and that's why it often looked like men against boys.
