THE most annoying part of this year's World Cup, is undoubtedly the constant drone of, no not Mick McCarthy, it is of course the vuvuzela, but Stanley have no plans to ban them from the Crown Ground.
It is part of South Africa's culture, and really has split opinion so far, with ITV trying to figure out ways to show live coverage of games with commentary minus the horn sounds.
I can't see it taking off in English football, but no doubt, some one, some where will try to make it.
Some clubs have banning orders on the vuvuzelas, but Accrington Stanley say that it would be unnecessary to do so, as the club believe the fans would much rather hear the Stanley Ultras behind the goal.
Stanley's Cheif Executive Rob Heys told the Lancashire Telegraph: "To be honest, there wouldn't be any point having them here because they would be drowned out by our loud and proud Stanley Ultras behind the goal."
|
but what if the ultras have the vuvuzelas?

Re: Vuvu horn
I think the bans on vuvuzelas are a real shame. Not that I ever want to watch another game of football with that horrid drone taking over the unbeatable sound of a crowd in full voice... It just seems to me that in this country over the past few years the authorities and powers-that-be can't allow people to decide for themselves anymore, let alone allowing groups of people to police themselves. Bad thing? Put a blanket ban on it! That's better.

Without wanting to sound too political Shaker (?)....Perhaps 'THE BIG SOCIETY '.....will allow all that your post hopes for ??...even to the sounding of Vulvazulus by misguided souls whenever the mood takes them !!.....
Maybe the hoped-for New Body of Directors will issue a directive as to the allowing of this at The Crown ??..or not !
Like the cat that ate Gorgonzola and blew into the Mousehole.....one waits with baited breath !!.

There are now six Prem clubs including Arsenal, and Liverpool who have banned them, don't think United have, maybe it will help to keep the crowd awake after their long journey from the Home Counties

All this is on account of Health and Safety measures Jay.
The Football Clubs in question are afraid that these plastic imitations of early Bantu musical instruments viz..The Vulvazulu, will in the hands of misguided children be used as blunt instruments to club into submission juvenile fans from opposing clubs !!...
So it seems that it is not the sound of the Vulvazulu, but rather it's killing power which is the worrying factor,
I have made a silent Vulvazulu of my own from papier-mache, which I blow to my hearts content in the shed at the bottom of the Garden !!, you just cannot imagine the pleasure that it affords me in moments of despair.
Won't be long now !!
