Thumbs down Wasting Talent

What was the point of signing Jody Banim if your Manager is going to do the same as Shrewsbury's? Sitting him on the subs bench and playing him for 10-15 minutes occasionally is not doing him justice - give the lad a chance to show what he can do.

Re: Wasting Talent

IMHO from what I've seen of J.B. (and this has been stated inother threads on this forum), he seems overweight and slow. It maybe because he's had so few games that J.C. is breaking him in gently and I know he is a fan, but I and others like me are not sure he can cut it at this level. I hope for the lads sake he can though. Competition up front IS useful

Re: Wasting Talent

From what I have seen of him he doesnt look good enough for conference as stated above, but i think if we were to see the best why not stick him in the reserves for 3 or 4 games to improve fitness and sharpness then lets judge him then but so far its not looking good!

Why did we get rid of damo he was a better player in my eyes

Re: Wasting Talent

They played him in the Shrewsbury reserves against the full Shrewsbury team and the reserves hammered them, Jody scored a hat-trick!!! Give the lad a chance, a) he's not overweight and b) he's not slow usually - he's just had a knee operation so is taking it a little bit easy - wouldn't you?

People who I have spoken to who have seen Jody play in the past can't speak enough of him...singing his praises.

I just hope he knuckles down, works hard on his fitness and proves to us, like he has to others, what a player he can be.....

Nice to see people judging a player on two/three appearances.....(about 60 mins)....Aint done nowt for me in particular but we should be willing to give the lad a chance.

Re: Wasting Talent

Jody scored over 90 goals for Radcliffe in two and a half seasons - not bad. When he played for them he was a greedy striker trying to beat everybody and then having a shot. He hasn't done that for us, maybe Shrewsbury changed his style of play. I personally do not think that he will make it in the Conference, there is a big difference between Unibond Div 1 and the Conference but we should give him a chance.

Re: Wasting Talent

Craney came from unibond to conference and immediatly made his mark.. thats the difference.. Jody simply hasn't.. I aint saying he wont. Just that he hasn't

Re: Wasting Talent

Agreed Kipax, but considering Craney has played 500 mins of football this season compared to Banims 60 mins, Craney has had the benefit of pre-season training with us and the fact that Banim has been in and out of first team football whilst Craney has been having regular run outs then it seems a tad demanding of us to expect the two players to deliver similar results. Personally I would like to see more of Banim.
