Weather

What's the weather like in Accrington at the moment? I see from the official site that the Halifax game is 90% sure of going ahead, but I just wondered what the roads are like over that way?

Right now I'm snowed in and if things don't improve very quickly I won't be going anywhere today.

Thanks for that Mez. Unfortunately things are not improving here very fast.

It's not looking good at all.

Re: Weather

Well, I managed to get going today (taking my life in my hands) and got as far as the Blackburn turn-off on the M65 before hearing that the match was called off.

Not very happy, as you can imagine.

Angry Re: Weather

I'll bet that there are a few halifax fans who won'r be too happy either.

The decision should be taken by the teams that are playing, not by the "referee".

Re: Weather

It's a disgrace. How can a match that is 90% certain to be played at 2.00 pm be called off when the weather is thawing????? I had persuaded 3 more to travel today to boost the gate, and they won't be coming back - EVER!

Re: Weather

The ref (a scouser)should have been at the ground earlier . I was talking to Mullin and he said that they had been told that the pitch would freeze during the game and that the terracing was icy and therefore unsafe. He was quite miffed about it actually.

Re: Weather

i have been at stanley since 9am today clearing all the snow off the pitch and at 1:45 the referee decides that the game should be called off due to freezing conditions, the pitch was fine underneath it wasnt frozen. Even coley and jimmy bell where on the pitch clearing the snow. Coley wasnt very happy with the ref when he said it was off.

Re: Weather

the covers where only on the parts of the pitch that are in the shade because of the stand. I think we would av been able to clear the pitch by 2:45, but the ref called it off at 1:45.
