well done stanley

last night was the best performance this year.solid defence, industrious and penetrative midfield that linked with the strikers.brilliant off the ball movement in the first half by mangy making spaces for other players coming through..where did that performance come from..cmon give us some more..........

Re: well done stanley

Any doubts over why I'm still watching my team eroded away last night. Glimpses of the spirited Stanley that roped me in over ten years ago resurfaced from whatever crevice it was hiding in.

The players were giving everything from start to finish; hunting the ball down, holding on to a lead despite pressure - and fully deserved their reward.

In short - some much missed cajonés were found last night, particularly from Mark Roberts who had a stormer - MoM for me. We saw a superb display from Leam Richardson as well; though no surprises there! He very rarely puts a foot wrong and should be captain (big thing to say from me - big Cav fan).

I am also very happy to see that Andy Mangan seems to have matured a little without losing his fire. If he can perform like that every game we should do our utmost to resign him.

More of the same please!

On Stanley On.

Re: well done stanley

I was well impressed with the performance on Tuesday night. It was good to see the team play with some fire and passion for a change. Both central defenders were terrific and with Kenny getting back to his best it must give the defence more confidence. That's the best I've seen Mangan play, his running into channels gave us more options for the likes of Craney to come through and had Bees defence at 6s and 7s. That's the first time I've seen Mannix and he looks comfortable on the ball but probably needs a few more games to gel. He'll get better. Harris was the business, as usual and Mullers looked rejuvenated with Mangy up front and some pace to flick onto. Keep it up Stanley. Same again on saturday JC. No tinkering !!

From all accounts, it was a cracking game against Brentford. Well done, Stanley! A pity I could not get to that one after having to endure some performances best described as indifferent.

Leam for captain - agreed. I've been muttering that for ages. Mark Roberts - glad to see that he had a stormer. I thought he was superb at the start of the season and tried valiantly to hold the defence together when some of those around him were struggling.

As for the "new" defenders, on loan from Charlton, Paulo Monteiro could be ok but he is an unknown quantity having arrived at Charlton only at the start of February. Aswad Thomas looked ok in the games I saw. We don't know how long Monteiro and Thomas will be with us. So I still like Mark Roberts and Sean Webb to be used as our central defensive pairing.

But again, well done on Tuesday.

Re: well done stanley

Aswad Thomas played at left back on Tuesday and did well. He's a strong left footer and the backline seemed to have more balance with Edwards returning to the right ( I always think he looks out of place on the left). On the strength of our first clean sheet since way back, I think JC should stick with the Tuesday starting line up for the next game as a show of faith, even if Monteiro is cleared to play. It would be soul destroying for anyone to be left out after such a performance.

Re: well done stanley

Couldn't get there on Tuesday, so I obviously missed something special. Well done, Stanley. More of the same at Rotherham, please.
As for the earthquake - what earthquake? I thought it was Stanley supporters still celebrating!

I thought Leam played right wing back and Phil Edwards played at centre half alongside Sean Webb and Mark Roberts.
Aswad definitely played left wing back.

Yes I thought it was 5-3-2 with:
Defense (right to left) - Richardson (wing back), Edwards, Roberts, Webb, Thomas (wing back).
Midfield - Mannix, Craney, Harris.
