what kind of team are we?

not that I am assuming that we will win the title, but when we win the title what type of Championship winning team will we be remembered as?

Having scored in every single game thus far, will we thought of as a swashbuckling, sweeping-all-aside calibre of a side?

Having kept 12 clean sheets so far, will be remembered as an Arsenal-esque-keep it tight at the back, tight as a ducks arse and thats watertight type of team?

Are we the once in a while Jonny come lately's who just benefit from the particular year when everybody else is having a transitionary year and blooding the kids?

Its been widely described as a poor league this year. Is this because the 'proper clubs' , as their more vocabularily laxated fans like to call themselves, are struggling to keep up with smaller, better run clubs like ourselves? To a club like ourselves maybe it seems a poor league this year because we are unexpectedly sat on top of the heap.

Previous threads have touched on whether the present Management will still be here next year. There would be the outside chance that a bigger club would come in for a successful duo like Coley and Bell (sounds like a cheap American sit-com), but how big a club would it have to be for them to take a chance? Coley gave up his fledgling teaching career to go full-time with Stanley and has probably surpassed all his expectations since coming to Accrington. He owes this club nothing and would leave with my best wishes, but having nurtured this club to its present health and wealth, is there an obligation to go as far as possible with us. I would not leave here to go to Rochdale, Bury, Macclesfield etc. I could only leave a club that I had brought from nowhere if I was going to a similar sleeping giant. Or a home city club like maybe Tranmere.

Of the players we have now who could command a fee and move up a level who would be your preferred choice of transfer out of here?

Roberts, Craney, Boco, Edwards are players who catch the eye of scouts and have not previously played at a higher level (Edwards not counting at Wigan due to his reserveness). I wouldn't like to see anybody leave, but it stands to reason that the team we have now will not be together next year.

I wouldn't want to name names as I think all of this years squad have played an important part in our progression, but some of the squad will not make next years squad due to being shipped out as not good enough. Every year the released five or six raises eyebrows around the town. Who will this years surprise release be?

Other than big chuff off stands being built and rooves etc, which would be your favourite bit of ground development this year? Mine would be tar-mac carparks.

And finally, which ground are you looking most forward to visiting next year? Assuming of course that we go up, because nobody is taking that for granted yet are we?

Re: what kind of team are we?

Assuming that we get promotion, then my favourite part of the ground will be the bits that are necessary for promotion eg the Police Control room and First Aid room for supporters., Who do I see leaving the club - Robbie Elliot is obvious, unless, like Phil Edwards, he decides that first team football lower down the leagues is preferable to reserve team football at Charlton. Danny Alcock is another who may go to try his luck elsewhere. Grounds I am looking forward to visiting - every last one of them (if we go up) apart from the 2nd team promoted from the Conference.

Re: what kind of team are we?

My impression as a semi-neutral is that Stanley have done their homework on the Conference this year and realised that there are few teams with any kind of attacking flair so they've been able to defend at the half way line. They've bought the kind of players to enable them to do this and moulded great team spirit. They also seem to have less of the petulance of previous years.

Ground improvements - get some better toilets. Most common criticism I've heard.

A team that worked their socks off for each other, no prima donnas, but with flair to spare.

As for ground improvements, do whatever is needed, but leave Whinney Hill shed alone.
