Where's Our New Midfielder?

Thought he was due to be announced last week after agreeing terms? Won't his current club release him...or what?

Re: Where's Our New Midfielder?

I dont think we will see too many actual signings before the end of June... This is pure guesswork but... We only go full time July first so presumably will only start paying players from then.... If players are currently with other clubs and sign for us now.. other clubs will stop paying them and they are in no mans land for a few weeks.. Players out of contract and not on a salary will be ok to sign i presume.. But not players at other clubs..

Again the above is just a guess... But seems reasonable to me

Yeah, that makes sense, but why did the club release the following statement on May 18th? "The club expects to announce the signing of a midfielder later this week. The player has agreed terms but is awaiting his release from his current club."

I think poach away their club have treated them badly and am sure they will not be that loyal to Telford for that ....

If Stanley say he has agreed terms but is waiting to be released .. I don't mind waiting Remember he got McEvily when all seemed quite

Re: Where's Our New Midfielder?

It seems some Telford players might be happy to re-sign for the club if they can sort something out. See http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/...le_17833.shtml.

Mick Jones, their ex manager, who was involved with the fund raising match (see Kipax's site) on Sunday is also involved with the fans' survival package. See http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/...le_17783.shtml and http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/p...le_17738.shtml.

On the other hand, their goalie, Chris MacKenzie, who was on loan at Hereford for the last weeks of the season, is not very optimistic: http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/...le_17890.shtml.

Meanwhile, the acting chairman has said that the club's fate will be decided in the next 24 hours: http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/...le_17914.shtml.

I just hope that the club and fans are able to sort something out and make a go of it next season.
