Who should be on the retained list?
Don't expect anyone to contribute to this for another 6 days but thought I would get in first.

Re: Who should be on the retained list?
Not in any particular order...............
- Coley and Co.
- Seamus.
- Sean McConville.
- Shaun Whalley.
- Tommy.
- Liam.
- Mo.
- Mitch.
- Toby.
Sign up Jensen, as I think he 'gets' Stanley
Regardless of the list above, I expect players to go - Tommy for one
Also, I would hate to see Kode./Adekoya just going for nothing (not sure about any of the contract side...
As you say Haggis, just have to wait and see

Re: Who should be on the retained list?
Most important thing of all, is a goal scorer and for once, I think Coley has to go proven!
Cole Stockton, Jayden Stockley are just two off the top of my head who make a huge difference to their respective teams

They make a huge difference to your wage bill as well there lies the problem.

The £££ is nothing, compared to the ££££££££££££££££££££ we have just lost, sorry Andy, but that is true
There are better priced Cole Stocktons out there

There are better priced Cole Stocktons out there ;Not saying there isn't just a point that neither of those two would have signed for us in the January window Piley at Fleetwood gambled with the permanent signature of Jack Marriot who by the way tore our defence to shreds and brought in Stockdale on loan just a pure guess but in those four months since I'd say approximately £200000 grand plus on wages plus the undisclosed fee for Marriott guess again £500000 grandish that's probably about a third of our entire budget on two players to finish mid table reality bites at that level for a club like ours eventually.

Re: Who should be on the retained list?
According to Peterborough supporters when chatting in Coleys, Marriott was signed by Fleetwood for £900k. Fleetwood have been paying wages (to some players) circ 5/6k per week albeit this may not go on for much longer once Andy Pilleys protracted court appearances are concluded. We simply cant compete with that and its not sustainable for us with our support base. As sad as our relegation may seem, lets be proud of the fact we are more are less debt free, have an owner who cares about the club and the town and is always approachable, and this is unique to most other football clubs in all the 4 EFL divisions.
We will be BACK. Onwards and upwards.

Re: Who should be on the retained list?
To get promoted from the National League you need a L2 squad
To get promoted from L2 you need a L1 squad
To get promoted from L1 you need a Championship squad
etc, etc, etc,
Stanley can't afford big money signings or extortionate wage bills
Personally I think we need to gamble our future in a young, ambitious, skilful team.
Wait a minute..... we already have one!
Didn't our undefeated under 23 squad win the Central League?
Therein lies our future.

Re: Who should be on the retained list?
Some people talking about getting rid of people under contract ……….
Unless somebody wants them and fee acceptable they aren’t going anywhere.
Suggest we start by doing a list of those under contract.

Re: Who should be on the retained list?
Just one question before the season wraps.
Why did we never ever play Sean Whalley wide?

This from an earlier post….
of the 34 players listed and still with us, 17 are out of contract/loan at the end of this season...
These are:
Savin (club has one year option), Jensen, Isherwood, Tharme, Notts, Clark, Rogers, Longelo, Baghuelou, Conneely, Pritchard, Hamilton, Hardy, Adedoyin, Nolan, Lusiama, and Pressley.
Contracted to 2024 are:
Baba, Sloane, Morgan, Leigh, Coyle, Sangare, Patrick, Poilly, McConville, Whalley, Lowe, Sisay, Adekoya, Moonan, Martin, Fenton, Woods (the last four have contract extensions activated).
I’d be disappointed, but not surprised, if Clark, Longelo, Pritchard, and Hamilton are of interest to other clubs.
Jensen, Tharme and Pressley currently contracted to other clubs.
