Why Rory on the bench????
Vital match;we need to win to stay in contention for playoffs...great idea, let's put the best winger in the Conference on the bench!!!!! How best to boost the confidence of your star player and persuade him that he is wanted and appreciated??? Put him on the bench!! I give up;Rory was baffled as to why it happened;I think it was sheer stupidity. We have him till the end of the season, {at least** surely we should be taking every advantage of his talent!Maybe by own biased view but the match certainly got a whole lot more interesting with the Roar involved!

Re: Why Rory on the bench????
Yes well done to Rory when he came on he was superb and made a big impact.
Not saying that he isnt the best winger in the Conference when he is on form, but of recent his form has not been there im afraid, so dropping him will show him that his name is not guranteed on the starting line-up and now there is rife competition for his place.
But like I said earlier big impact when he came on today and he made the goal so full marks to him for coming on and not sulking after being dropped.....

Re: Why Rory on the bench????
i agree lindsay he is a great player and changed the game today providing the goal for paul mullin, Despite this i was very impressed with gary roberts performance. I could see gllimpses of a good signing. He is very quick and has skill.

Re: Why Rory on the bench????
You know better than most, has he taken his eye off the ball with all this speculation.... I'm sure Sir John has his reasons.
Very well done one & all today, the players, management, fans, tea ladies, programme sellers... even Adam Cottier!

Re: Why Rory on the bench????
the evil one is playing with a groin strain and he still scores, Rory played a blinder, despite coming on as sub and Coley gets it right again, despite everyone in the ground saying he was playing the wrong goalkeeper....... funny old game init!!

Re: Why Rory on the bench????
I would just like to point out a few facts of life at Accy Stanley. Rory P. has not been having the best of times, coz none of the bloody team will pass him the ball. Every sodding ball from keeper to outfield players goes through McEvil, however, as he isnow out for 3 games, maybe Rory can prove once and for all how much of a team player he is and how much we need him. Thought Roberts and Brown looked very useful and lively today. Was baffled as to how they only got 1840 as the crowd, looked at least 2500 +. Also not impressed with two of our esteemed fans arguing at half time on the Clayton end terrace. It was not needed. Lets ALL get behind the team and stop bickering at one another. Still not sure about Crichton either. some fine saves, but some very dodgy moments. Overall, Stanley deserved the victory today though and I thought bossed the second half, who needs 11 men.

Re: Why Rory on the bench????
What do you think Rory has to prove once and for all ? For me he has proved what he can do time and time again..including turning the match when he came on today. Nothing to prove as far as I was aware

Re: Why Rory on the bench????
Yes I agree Kipax, but, perhaps his team mates will acknowledge the fact he is on the pitch. Time and time again this season, every ball has gone through Lee McEvil and Rory has not got a look in. Just an opinion, but it is how I have interpreted what I have seen at recent matches, including cup games. I said pretty much the same after the Bamber Bridge match. Maybe now the McEvil willbe out for a compulsory 3 matches, Rory will be on fire and with the addition of Roberts, when the evil one comes back, we may be able to play a true 4-4-2 with two wingers and Mullin and Evil up front. The thought is awe inspiring if not frightening.

Re: Why Rory on the bench????
maybe just coley was looking to bring in something new (as it has been said a change of style might help) andf therefore wanted to bring in the two new signings to put something unexpected in the team and it looked to work. rory came on set up the winner hes class every stanley fan knows it!!! he has nothing to prove to anyone

The problem is that Prendergast is not a team player. He showed his true character yesterday when after Mullin had scored the winner it needed Cav to go and tell him to go and celebrate with the rest of the team, instead of prancing around on his own.
If the addition of Roberts to the squad means that Prendergast thinks he has something to prove and he starts to provide crosses of the quality he did yesterday for the second goal, then it can only be of benefit to the whole team.
Competition for places means that nobody can be complacent.
Cue the Rory lovers...

Re: Why Rory on the bench????
how do they actually work out the attendance at the interlink because we dont sell tickets and they dont record every person that enters the ground? so is it just a rough estimate?

Re: Why Rory on the bench????
Football teams are "cliquey" and ours is no exception;it may suprise certain people that Rory is a fairly insecure person and sometimes feels "left out".He doesn't really have any mates in the team since Lutel went and since he lives a fair distance away he doesn't often socialise with his team mates.I am not making excuses for him;I just think that to say he isn't a team player is a rather sweeping generalisation. He's quite a complex character is our "Big Top" !

Everytime someone goes through the turnstile it counts automatically, then they just add up all the numbers from all the turnstiles
