Re: Wigan match thread.
Great game to watch and apart from being asleep for their goal inside 45 seconds never looked like conceding another made up for the lads especially after all the remarks about certain players not being good enough, McConville man of the match but all players at least a 7+ thought Barclay had one of his best games in a Stanley shirt Maguire picked at the last minute put in a great shift, Butcher steady away and such a shame Morgan's effort was well saved slowly showing what he is about prepared to mix it and after picking up a yellow didn't deter him from getting stuck in and great to see Savin having a good confident display. Hope Rodgers is ok another who showed how good he can be congratulations to Perritt on his league debut.

Re: Wigan match thread.
Great performance from the entire team.
Not the fanciest football at times but a good, old-fashioned battle by two well matched sides.
Sean McConville’s dead ball deliveries and Toby Savin’s bravery made the difference.
Good to see some of the ‘fringe’ players getting a run out and doing their bit to stop the losing streak.
MotM? Must be the ref who finally awards Stanley a penalty!

agree with exile every man today gave a damn good performance no-one at all could be faulted, well done stanley how the hell we won that with half first team out defies logic twas a great display, also though Peritt only came on near the end the kid did very well in the short time he was on.

Re: Wigan match thread.
Thought Both teams were wary of the pitch and Acci played it better.they simply were bigger and stronger than Wigan.
With a foot in both camps !,probably only Lang would get in Acci’s team.
Two stonewall penalties were missed (one each).
Hard to pick out mom ,Shaun was involved in all the goals, but Burgess caught the eye.
In summary hardworking performance in trying conditions, will have harder games in the future

Re: Wigan match thread.
A superb three points for Stanley against Wigan and fully deserved.
After the horrific start Stanley controlled the game from the goalkeeper to our forwards. As others have noted it was difficult to find a weakness after the first minute! Our defence was pretty solid, midfield today was excellent and the forwards kept the pressure on Wigan’s defence throughout! Savin had a good match after the initial error. Hughes marshalled our defence with assurance and it was great to see Burgess and Nottingham posing so much threat in attack and getting a well deserved goal each. I thought that Rogers and Maguire were very competitive with Rogers winning a lot of brave headers and Maguire was highly mobile and he did so well to last the whole 95 minutes not having played for so long! Central midfield were in total control with Butcher looking like he is over those recent niggling injuries, Morgan finding some pace and almost scoring too. Barclay was dynamic getting up and down between our defence and forwards. Sean had a better time roaming across the high line and his deliveries from free kicks and corners were a real threat throughout the match. Charles was a constant thorn in the side of the Wigan defence and despite constantly being shoved in the back he kept the pressure fully on his opponents. I don’t recall the referee giving us a single free kick for a foul on Charles which was unbelievable! Good for young Perritt to come on too but hope that Rogers isn’t added to our long injury list!
Should give the whole squad a bit more confidence for the coming matches!
ON STANLEY ON.
KEEP THE FAITH.

Re: Wigan match thread.
Btw, if, as Dan Jewel stated, Dean Winnard was at the match, it was like an old boys’ reunion. Good to see Peter Murphy and Liam Richardson on the pitch afterwards too! Didn’t spot Ian Craney, though.
Hope Corey had enough ‘tea cups’ for them all at full time! rolleyes:

Re: Wigan match thread.
to be honest choirboy i thought the error for the opening goal was our defence certainly not our keeper,
