Cheers for that, Haggis...brought back a lot of happy memories for me. Only a few days before we'd been beaten at home by Southport and there was talk of the wheel coming off our promotion bid and Hereford catching us up. I remember at the end of this game, three different people phoning me to tell me that the Sheep fanciers had lost at Kidderminster. Although it still wasn't a mathematical certainty, I recall almost floating down to the station, knowing, just knowing, that we were going to be a football league club again!
Yes I recall this being the antidote to the Southport game.
Remember at the end leaving in a group of Accy Fans and being described by a York woman who should have known better as "a bunch of Lancashire Bar stuards". Mind you our terrace had spent much of the match suggesting an alternative use for Kit Kat.
Think it opened an 11 point gap and we knew we were up.

I remember that game well. First game I took my eldest son too (and the last) but what a day, apart from the ball boys giving the fingers to the away fans - but the abuse Stanley fans in the main stand got from people who ought to have known better (pensioners). That was the day when the whole of the Conference looked up at Stanley and yep that is who they are, not some has been league club who are on their way down.

Addendum, the views I express on here are my own, if you don't like them: TOUGH!
Funny how times change. Anybody remember the old conference.tv website? I used to think it was the best thing since sliced bread. "What do you mean I can watch Stanley highlights online? Is this some kind of witchcraft?". Of course if you'd said we'd soon be in the league and all highlights and reports would become a regular thing I would have had you carted away in the looney van.
The game itself is notable for being one of the few choice occasions where I have visited Yorkshire by choice!!

great day - and the little lad in the Stanley shirt running along the terrace towards Mullers to celebrate Stanleys first goal is now an apprentice at Burnley FC and was playing for the reserves tonight
