Re: York - Oh dear :(

If you look really closely you can still see the broken concrete where the barrier was pushed down on the far side. However, at that time Fleetwood were reknown for trouble. I went to a League Cup final at Maine Road and Fleetwood fans were fighting in lumps with Mossley fans.

And then there was the corner flag throwing incident a couple of years later against Northallerton. Lest said the better about that.

Here's me trying to recruit new fans and you lot doing your best to put 'em off! Mick, and anyone else thinking of coming, these incidents were long ago in a different era. The Fleetwood mob were a particularly noxious lot (I remember a cartoon in the much-missed "Barber's Pole" fanzine showing Dr Doolittle doing his talking to the animals bit with them.) But they're long gone. I can't emphasise this enough - the IES is a safe, friendly environment and well worth a visit with the family.

The Dr Dolittle cartoon was a classic!

I agree, though, there hasn't even been a hint of trouble at the IES for a very, very long time. It is a safe and friendly place to visit for anyone.

Long may it continue.
