Came up to the game yesterday not knowing if the game would be on or not and am I glad I did.
We arrived at the ground at 12.30 having left Wycombe at just after 9.30. No traffic on the way up and the only snow we saw was on the route across the M65.
We walked down to the Oaklea Tavern and parked ourselves up in front of the
Man City v Arsenal game. The food in the pub was your normal fair at reasonable prices.
Very few Wycombe fans in the pub at all but made to feel very welcome by the locals. Reminds me of our non league days and the friendly family atmosphere on away days. Got talking to a fan who was saying that your season tickets for sitting are nealry £300. Shocker! No wonder you have less than 200 season ticket holders.
The game was pretty poor with the pitch not helping. Thought we deserved our win and in all honesty we could have won by more but for poor finishing.
Hope you stay in the league this season and cant see you going down myself.
A most enjoyable day out made all the better by you the locals.
P.S. Who was the woman working in the BP opposite McDonalds at 12.20'ish when I filled up with petrol. She said she was an Accy fan and was probably going to the game once she got of at 2. Anybody know her?
