Re: Which Park?

According to the signs in bacup park fair dell is getting renovated, and they're looking for people to sponsor the formal rose garden so they can get match funding but in a year I've seen nothing happen.
our parks are nowhere near as traditional and grandiose as yours, even though nuneaton and tamworth have a river going through them. Here in Atherstone we don't have a park, just recreation grounds, or small play parks. We have the out woods but thats just woods. The only thing we've got that resembles your parks, streams, stone steps, sunken gardens, formal gardens, follies, lakes, is the grounds of merevale hall, and us being peasants were not allowed to go up there, it just stands and decays. It could be a good tourist attraction here especially as it's now being pushed as a tourist town but nooooo.

Re: Which Park?

That is a total shame, we should preserve what we have for the future.

Re: Which Park?

In Hyndburn we actually have more green space per head than most other places in the UK. Not sure exactly but I think we're in the top ten. The problem with that is that green space (parks) need a lot of maintaining and if you have a large amount of it then it's quite expensive.

Rhyddings Park is starting to do very well now and I have nothing but praise for the Friends group, it's working wonders. There's a new funding stream just come on line that might be useful for them.

I did the park attendant job during teh summer when I was at college up at Milnshaw. It did take some nerve shifting groups of 10-15 kids out that were causing havoc.
