Terms and rules

Last updated: 7 November 2026

These terms apply to everyone who uses AccringtonWeb (www.accringtonweb.com), "the forum". It is run by FirmEdge Ltd ("we", "us"), company number 07801488, registered in England and Wales, registered office Unit 6 Lodge Court, Alan Ramsbottom Way, Great Harwood, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB6 7FB, United Kingdom. By registering or posting you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't register or post.

1. Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to register.
  • One account per person. Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what's done with your account, so tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
  • Use a username that isn't offensive, misleading, or someone else's name or brand.
  • Give a real email address that you check: we use it for your account and for anything we need to tell you.

2. Forum rules

AccringtonWeb is a community forum for Accrington and the surrounding area. Keep it friendly and useful. When you post, don't:

  • break the law, or encourage anyone else to: no defamation, harassment, threats, hate, or anything that infringes someone's copyright or other rights;
  • be abusive, bully or personally attack other members, or deliberately start arguments;
  • post anything sexually explicit, extremely violent or otherwise obscene;
  • post anyone else's personal information (their address, phone number, private messages, or anything else that identifies them, such as a vehicle registration linked to their name) without their permission;
  • spam, advertise, or post affiliate or referral links, except where a forum area allows it;
  • impersonate anyone, or create extra accounts to get round a ban or to back up your own arguments;
  • post viruses or harmful code, try to break or overload the forum, or collect members' information.

Moderators may add more detailed rules for particular areas; those apply too.

3. Buying, selling and advice

Any trading between members is between those members; we are not part of it and aren't responsible for it. Be careful, and never send money you can't afford to lose. Advice on the forum comes from other members: use your own judgement, and get a qualified professional for anything safety-critical, legal, medical or financial.

4. Your content

  • You keep the copyright in what you post. By posting, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, permanent licence to host, show, copy, adapt (for example resize images) and distribute it as part of the forum and its archives, including after you leave.
  • Only post material you have the right to post. If you post someone else's photo or text, you must have their permission, or the law must allow it (for example a short quotation with credit).
  • What you post is public and may be indexed by search engines. Think before you post anything about yourself.
  • Posts express the views of their authors, not ours. We don't check posts before they appear and aren't responsible for what members write, but we will act on reports.

5. Moderation

We and our moderators may edit, move, hide or remove any content, and warn, suspend or ban any account, if we think it breaks these terms or harms the forum or its members. We'll try to be fair and, where we can, explain why, but the decision is ours. Please use the Report button to tell us about anything that breaks the rules.

6. Illegal or harmful content

If you see something you believe is illegal or harmful, report it with the Report button or through our contact form. We will look at it promptly and remove it if necessary. If you think we got a moderation decision wrong, including one about your own content or account, use the contact form to ask us to review it. We take our duties under the UK Online Safety Act 2023 seriously.

7. Copyright complaints

If you believe something on the forum infringes your copyright, contact us with a link to it and an explanation, and we'll deal with it quickly.

8. Adverts and links

The forum shows adverts, mostly through Google AdSense, which pay for running it. Adverts, and links in posts, lead to sites we don't control; we are not responsible for them or for anything you buy through them.

9. The service

We provide the forum free of charge and "as it is". We try to keep it running and backed up, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or stop any part of it. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss arising from your use of the forum or from what other members post. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your legal rights as a consumer.

10. Leaving

You can stop using the forum at any time. To close your account, contact us. Our privacy policy explains what happens to your information and posts when you leave.

11. Changes and the law

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change matters, we'll tell members on the forum, and continuing to use the forum after that means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you can also use your local courts.

12. Contact

Use our contact form or email [email protected].
