A bit more...

thanks to Cashy and Jen for your comments......

further to my last Blog, this woman is supposed to be educated...she is a retired teacher.

Wouldn't you think that her previous profession would give her an insight into the needs of children?

That children who are different in whatever way, can be open to taunts from their peers....not perhaps so much evident in primary school, but definitely in secondary education.

The child that this woman wants, will not be biologically hers, but it will be her partners....for they are not even married.

I know that these days marriage seems irrelevant to couples who want to live together.....but for those who want to have children, it is a moral thing....well, that is my perspective on it anyway...however old fashioned that may be. I believe that married parents make the best parents.......OK, there are circumstances where this is not possible(death of the father/mother.......abusive relationships.......divorce/infidelity)....children need security in their lives and stable relationships to draw parameters for their own adult lives from.....if they don't have these securities in their young lives then what chance do they have to make successful relationships for themselves?

Most of all children need a mother who functions as a mother.

After the birth of her last child, this misguided individual, who assures us that she is in robust health, required four major surgical procedures.(unrelated to her pregnancy, but a couple related to her advanced years)

I feel it is morally and ethically wrong for the donated eggs of a healthy woman, to be used in a situation such as this one....purely because the woman in question has the financial wherewithal to fund the costs.

And Yes Jen, she should be required to pay for everything, just as you said....but then I think that she would do that, because she can.......and because she can pay it doesn't make it acceptable....it makes it even more abhorrent.

I think she has definitely had some help somewhere......blonde hair, a fashion make-over.......and a good plastic surgeon.
Like I said Jen, if you can afford it then you can have it......how shallow!

Whilst I agree that this lady is a little too old to carry a child because of body breakdown, I also think that we should send our men to have a mandatory vasectomy at 55 !!

Just one example, Van Morrison became a father again at 64 years old end of December . everybody is offering congratulations !! Humph.

I'm not so sure about a mandatory vasectomy for men over the age of 55 Kate........Charlie Chaplin married a younger woman and he was fathering children later than 64.......but then he was not going to be the one who was going to carry the child, give birth or be the prime carer for the baby.
I think it is different for women.......and while I know that many women these days put off having babies because they want to establish themselves in a career, this has to be balanced against their desire for a family.

Nature has decreed that our reproductive life should end at the time of the menopause.....and that is for a reason.
That reason being, we are getting past it(reproducing, that is).
Just because the technology exists to go against nature does not mean that it is good to do that(nature has a nasty way of getting its own back)........and when it is done for money, then it has to be viewed with some scepticism.
