You know the kind of thing......you wrestle with a problem and you can't for the life of you see what you are doing wrong...but things don't go right....then all of a sudden you get it....that light bulb goes on and you have one of those Eureka moments.
I had one of those today.
I have been having trouble with my broadband......the signal has been dropping out intermittently.
This has irritated the proverbial out of me...especailly as I have been doing some Christmas shopping on the internet.....it is a huge immbuggerance to have almost completed your order and then the connection drops out...a real GRRRRR moment.
I was going to contact BT about it and get them to check to see if there was a fault on the line(Thank you Neil for suggesting that)....but each time I was going to do it the problem seemed to have cleared up.......I didn't want to be wasting anybody's time......so I hadn't contacted BT.
I was in the kitchen today, chopping onions for a casserole and idly thinking what had happened about two months ago....what was different....and what could be causing the problem......that is when the light bulb came on!
We had Sky HD+ fitted. Now previously we had Sky TV, but our box was not connected to the internet....but the Sky+ box has to be connected to the internet at all times.......it suddenly struck me that my internet problems started around this time...and it dawned on me that maybe it was something relating to this event that was the cause of the problem.
I put down the knife, wiped my hands and checked the Sky box's connection to the internet. Just as I thought, it didn't have a ADSL filter on it.
I figured that this might be the cause of my problems and rummaged in the drawers to find a filter......Voila, the problem seems to be sorted....but I DO have my fingers crossed as I am telling you this.
My line has not dropped out all day today.....so I am hoping the problem is cured.
If not then it will have to be....back to plan B.
