A good talking to......

Margaret Pilkington

Beacon of light
Overlooker
I was awake in the early hours of the morning......and just lying there in the dark I started to think about things.
I realised that it is ME that is making myself miserable......nobody is doing it to me.
I began to scrutinise why I have been feeling low........it is down to being selfish, yes and I suppose, just a bit childish too!
How conceited I am to think that life will give me just what I want....... and on MY terms too.
OK, we like to have plans in life but sometimes things happen that aren't in our plans.......that doesn't mean I have to fall apart.
I suppose it is like being on a journey and you get to a bit where roadworks make a diversion necessary........who says that this is not a good thing....? I might take longer to get where I am going but will see some different scenery along the way........who knows it might just be for the best.
It is about perception too.......sometimes things happen and they are not very welcome, but haven't we got a choice as to how we see the changes......if you see them as bad,or a nuisance an encumberance, then that is exactly what they will be......because that is what you yourself have made them.
If you look for the positive then you can usually find that there are compensations for the 'sacrifices' you think you have made.

I DO have a choice........I can choose to be unhappy and miss the positives and the scenery along the way.......OR I can choose to accept the changes and make the most of them and be happy. I try to tell myself that I am where I should be in my life.

Miserable OR happy....?

I am going to choose to be happy. (well I will TRY anyway.)

Oh......and Lettie if I had written for a living I think I just might have starved.....I would certainly be thinner!
