My trusty little green suitcase(very small, counts as hand luggage on airlines) has served me well.
I have had this little case for something like 10 years. I bought it very cheap from The Carrera Market up in Queensland....and only because during a three week stay at Turtle Beach I acquired too much stuff to go in our ordinary luggage......and knew that this would go in the overhead locker.
This little green case has been on every five day break that ma and I have taken......but I just knew that I would be pushing it to get 8 days worth of gear into it.
I know that there will be guys out there groaning......saying 'Women!.....why can't you travel light?'
Well, I do travel light.
I once took all the gear for a one week holiday to Devon in a beach bag.
My son in law looked incredulously when I told him that was my bag for the week.
I have to say that we were holidaying in a caravan, had laundry facilities, and had no aspirations to go anywhere that needed a 'dress up' feel to it.
I have packing down to a fine art....but still sometimes come back with one or two unworn articles...usually due to weather conditions more than anything else.
I had been looking at some very swish cases in M&S......bright pink with a floral pattern on them.......but they were 25 diddly squid......OK, I have a gift vulture from last Christmas, but did I really want to squander it on something so frivolous??????
Anyway it wasn't much bigger than my green case....so NO.......I was not going to splurge my voucher on that.
I was browsing in Old and Bargain(home Bargains) and I spotted a striking shocking pink suitcase......24inch(bigger than the little green one) so on impulse, and while himself wasn't watching i bought it.
I trundled it along to the car and his eyebrowns shot up and he said 'What the h£ll have you got there?'
'A garden rake' was my sardonic reply 'What does it look like?'
'Couldn't you get one a bit brighter?' he asked.....
'I could have, but then I would have had to buy sunglasses as well......and i don't want to scare the sun away'
So I am going away to Sandown with a brand spanking new Shocking pink case........I will be able to spot it from the end of the pier!
This break away is going to be extra memorable because I am meeting up with Mez and her friend Doreen.
They are going to the Isle of Wight too...alas we aren't on the same coach, or at the same hotel even....but we have plans to meet up and have lunch and a natter.
I'm going to have to be on my very best behaviour...aren't I?
I am sure you will be hearing about it on my return.
Oh and if you are reading this Mez....the pub at Yarmouth where I suggest you have your lunch is called the Wheatsheaf.....you won't be disappointed.
