Back to the pots.

Margaret Pilkington

Beacon of light
Overlooker
There I was.
Up to my elbows in hot soapy water when the phone rang.
I hurriedly dried my hands....who knows it might be a phone call from the solicitor saying a completion date has been agreed for Ma's house.

I looked at the screen 'international'....that's what it said.

I should have let it keep on ringing....but I was there now....the pots could wait.

A voice with a very heavy Asian accent asked to speak to Mrs Pilkington.

I spoke into the receiver in a whispered voice.....'I am not really allowed to answer this phone. nurse will be very cross with me if she catches me.
What is your name young man?'
'My name is Simon and I am calling to ask a few questions'
Me: 'oh that's nice...but if I put the phone down quickly it is because the nurse is coming...she is upstairs....Mrs Midgeley has messed herself again.
Never get old. It is no fun getting old.
Do you have a girlfriend Simon?

Him: No ma'am, I am married.
Me: (cutting in) that doesn't mean you can't have a girlfriend.
My husband had a girlfriend all the time we were married. He was a sex mad barsteward'
Him:Ma'am I need to ask you some questions'
Me: (cutting in again) I hope you aren't going to ask me to be your girlfriend....I am 84 and only remove my vest when it is laundry day....and I put a clean one on very quick....well, as quick as you can at my age'
Him:Ma'am I need to ask you these questions'
Me: oh-oh here comes nursey....gotta go'
Click....I put the phone down.

I was really surprised that he did not cut the call on me.
Anyway, back to the pots....at least they have had a good old soak
