best chippy ?????

Clayton St Chippy in Great Harwood used to be first class whether it still is or not I don't know

When I was growing up it used to be Lister Steet. Everybody seemed to love that chippy

Now. I quite like plantation street chippy. Sea breeze in ozzy is supposed to be good

Church st chippy is good as is Abbey Friar on abbey st, both just do good fish and chips.
Also Abbey Frair won chippy of the year not long ago.

I was in the Read Con last night when my mate came in.
He said he had been to Clayton street for his tea and the queue was still as long as it used to be even though it has changed hands.

When I used it on a regular basis the queue would be round the corner a quarter of an hour before opening.

Ya can remember that Gremlin, was a pain if you were working and needed a quick lunch:D

The Chinese on Moscow mill st, can't think of it's name off the top of my head. But fantastic fish and chips, in fact no complaints about anything we have had from there. :D:D:D

Ya it was next door to Clives hairdressers, bottom of Plantation Street

Would it be a lady called Jean Hampson, husband name of Neville? I know they had a chippy on Abbey Street, could it have been that one?

It was on that part of Abbey St, facing Palmer Rileys Electrics,
it will now be under the first set of pumps nearest to Plantation St.
The owners did live somewhere up Manchester Rd, when the firemans strike was on in the 1970's, he would pull up on his way home, and give the lads on the picket loads of fish & chips.
Retlaw.

Hard to choose between Abbey Friar, the one at West End on main road and Clayton Street Harwood. Someone choosing York St was a surprise to me. To me that's one of the worst

Yes it was Neville and Jean
Jean's a widow now, she turned 80 this year. She lives on Queens Road West opposite St Christophers. She's supposed best friends with my elderly cousin who lives round the corner, though they fall out all the time like a couple of schoolgirls. It makes me laugh!
