Boxing Day

We were moving out of the Chelsea Bridge Cottage.
Most of the stuff we had moved back home when we came over to spend Christmas Day with Nicola.
There was just the groceries to pack up and the quilt to take off the bed.
I had taken my own quilt because it was new and I didn't want it to get full of plaster dust.....we all know that plaster dust gets absolutely everywhere.
We had to vacate by 11 am, but we were ready for the off by just after 9 am.
We drove over to our house.
Pasha was very disorientated..She looked around the place with a look of confusion on her face......she looked around and scooted upstairs to take up her position on a cushion in the back bedroom..
We dumped the stuff from the cottage in the kitchen and set off to get some rubber gloves and some cleaning cloths....The disposable ones.
On our return the serious clean up began.
The stairs carpet was full of dust....and lumps of
dried plaster.
I got out the little Dirt Devil, but it was really not up to the job.
It really needed the Karcher industrial cleaner......and it needed doing twice to make any inroads in the muck.
You would never know that the colour of the carpet was a deep peach.
The kitchen work surfaces also needed a good going over.....as did the window ledges.
Himself and I pitched in with a vengeance.
He stopped for lunch, but I was on a roll and had to keep going.
We must have spent three or four hours and many buckets and bowls full of hot sudsy water.
The effort was well worth it......and we could see the difference.
There is still a lot to be done.
Yesterday I spent most of the day taking footprints off the new boards......cleaning down the door panels....So today I am a bit stiff and can feel the muscles that were used.

Thanks Cashy....and the same to you and your good lady.
At some point the New Year will be happy....when we get all the work finished and I am sat in my comfy new chair with a good mug of tea and a slice of cake.
I want it done good though...not fast.
I don't want Peter Andre and a sixty minute makeover.
