Ma had to go to the docs yesterday.
It was that time of year...she needed to have her Diabetic bloods done...this meant that she had to have nothing at all to eat (and only water to drink) from 9pm Monday evening.
Himself took me straight up there as the appointment with the quack was at 9.40.
She was a real sourpuss when I got up there.
She said she was longing for a cup of coffee, and that the smell of toast had seeped through from next door and tormented her.
We were up at the Rhyddings surgery for about 20 past nine..and were seen very quickly.
All Ma could think about was something to eat.
She had planned to ask the taxi driver to go via Mc Donkey's on the way home so that she could have a big mac for her breakfast.
But.......I suggested that we go into town and she could have a hearty breakfast at Wetherspoons.
Her face lit up with glee......'do they do a full English?' she asked.
'Yes' I said......'and you can have a hot chocolate or a nice cup of coffee with it' I told her.
Her mood lifted immediately.
We were in town for 10.30 and she went and made herself comfortable while I went off to the bar to place her order.
She had a traditional breakfast, and a hot chocolate to swill it down.....this would be breakfast and lunch for her.
I just had a hot drink.
When she had finished I rang the taxi to take us back home..and waited outside so that I could tell the driver where to stop...so that Ma didn't have too far to walk.
Guess what?
I was seen! Standing on the corner outside the pub...oh the indignity of it
Not only that, but I was outside talking with a man! (Good job I told himself all about it when I got back.)
Like a lady of loose morals...except it was daylight.
Anyway Mick...if you had made yourself known to me I would have shouted you a drink...I know I said I would have waved, but I was just being a bit fly.
Ma has phoned me today to say that she has to have some of these blood tests repeated...so I will be doing it all again, this time it will be lunch!
