Britannia Pub

went to the Britannia pub on Friday dinnertime for the carvery, not a bad price at £3.25....but the food is utter crap

we went to get our meat and the chef literally cut a huge wedge of beef and a huge wedge of pork and just dumped it on our plates(we are talking doorstep sizes)

ok, yes its fine if you like your meat to be presented to you like your a caveman, but i dont, he didnt even 'slice' it

anyone else been and had great lumps of meat stuck on their plates?

We don't go to the Britannia because the kids menu is rubbish. :(

Chicken nuggets, fish fingers etc.......they don't eat that rubbish at home so why would they want it when they go out?

I find these types of kids menus really insulting.

What exactly are you complaining about , the fact that you were given too much meat or the fact it should have been cut up smaller so you could eat it?
Either way seems petty to me since you had cutlery and ( I assume )opposable thumbs to hold a knife with and
cut said meat into manageable chunks.....

:rofl38: :rofl38: :rofl38: note to moderators ....any way triple karma can be given out ? , if awards are given out at year end 'for best response" this gets my vote :rofl38: :rofl38: :rofl38:

Here here. Lazy springs to mind and never pleased too.

I think it is a little unfair to say flashy is being lazy because she likes thin slices of meat as opposed to big chunks. It sounds like the chef could not be bothered to slice the meat correctly. I like a thickish slice but prefer not to have big chucks to hack up myself. Especially when I am eating out.

Do none of you have any food preferences or will you eat anything thrown at you?

agree with neil, the whole point of going out fer a meal is- they are serving YOU.n you are paying fer the privelge, i would have shoved it back in his hand n said cut that properly. still if some will put up with owt.

for £3.25 I wouldn't be expecting any michelin stars , are we to expect white linen table service for that price, you pay for dog food , you get dog food ;)

Whats the going price at the local chippy for steak pudding , chips and peas with a fish on top , for a take out ...just curious;)

I think the idea with these places is that they make most of their money on the drink. Even if that is not the case no one will be going back if the food is naff so they won't make any money.

well you obviously have a bigger appetite than me Lindsay and are obviously able to stuff more in your mouth than i am, i expect things to be well presented as they usually are at other carvery's

ok , whats the price at the local chip shop for a take out , Steak pudding , chips and peas with a fish on top ? , can someone let me know ...and how this compares with the price at the eating establishment in question ........just curious ;) :D

The thing is the Brit has gone downhill fast over the recent years( I used to work there and was proud of the quality we got it to). I assumed the special offers it was running was because someone was trying to turn it round from its bad reputation of late. In order to do this you need to be good value but of decent quality in both food and service.

Untill I hear differently I'll give it a miss.

I'm not fond of carvary's TBH anyway

i think they have lowered the price recently Ian, they have the likes of The Redcap and The Duke and Gamecock to contend with on the carvery front

i see certain members of accyweb have failed to see my point in this thread, yet again i thank you Ian for pointing out things that are valid opinions on visiting places, certain people like picking at my threads and following my around this site just to try and make me look a fool

this thread was designed to give people a heads up, not so people could pick out bad points about me

I understand what Lindsay is on about Flashy .. you have the facility to cut up your own meat as desired, however, I myself, find that food tastes different if cut in a different way ... probably I could be a bit quirky but find that :-

  • Tomatoes don't taste the same if cut into segments rather than slices
  • Melon balls appear to be more juicy than segments.
  • Love oranges sliced so you can stretch it out, rather than putting a whole piece in your mouth.
  • Full chicken breast doesn't taste as good as sliced chicken breast.
Lots of other things I am sure .. strange, could be just me ?

Brings an all new meaning to "how would you like your beef sir" just take the horns off and arse:D
