Chesney Square......

I managed to drag myself out of bed yesterday afternoon after finishing my nights. I actually got up at 2pm which is a bit late for me but I have been so achy all week and have an annoying tickly cough, I reckoned that an extra hour in bed would do me no harm.

As I was sipping my coffee the phone rang. It was my sister who was wondering if I could have my nephew over for a couple of hours after school. She said that his dad would drop him off, but he then had to go back to work, so I agreed.

At 3.30pm the 4 year old whirlwind was dropped off at my house. We have nicknamed him Chesney Square because it sounds similar to his name, but winds him up.....:D He's a lovely little boy but full of beans (which I was definitely not). He brought his remote control motorbike with him and proceeded to chase the dog around with it. He played with the dog for a while and I was surprised as he's always been a bit frightened of her - until now...

He then spotted my Incredibles dvd and insisted on watching it. I dutifully put it on thinking that he would probably quieten down for a little while.....How wrong was I??????

Watching the Incredibles includes doing some of the stunts apparently... We had a good half hour of jumping off the settee, running around my living room at top speed and bashing each other with cushions. I was absolutely knackered, Chesney reckons it is because I am an old lady......after all, I am 21 you know. After a quick rest, which included my adorable nephew excavating the contents of his nose with a fingernail and showing me the result.. a frantic hunt, on my part, for a tissue ensued. The motorbike did another lap around the living room being chased by the dog and Chesney. It was havoc.

All too soon though, there was a knock on the door. I thought that it would be my neighbours telling me to keep the noise down, or social services and the RSPCA coming to remove child and dog. It was my brother-in-law coming to take Ches home. I got his shoes, coat and motorbike and waved him off. I looked around my destroyed living room with cushions, dog hairs and my work papers all over the floor and thought.......... it was worth it.

I tidied up a bit then collapsed on the settee for the rest of the night, the dog lay exahusted by the fire, neither of us moved for several hours.... What a whirlwind...:D
