Clever marketing.

No Kate, I think it is very cynical, and serves to make stereotypical judgements about sections of the community who already feel pressurised.

That's the whole point though Margaret ... the idea is to put out cynical and controversial subjects to get people talking and to take note... that's what advertising/marketing is about .. to grab maximum attention at minimal outlay.

Just think was rather clever, as long as they don't push their luck and put out too hurtful subjects.

yes, I get the point, but find it a very exploitative way to market advertising space....cynical.....and not pleasant....a bit like being kicked in the goolies(or what I imagine that to be like)......and I don't think it will endear itself to the folk who buy the space.
I think that the public get sick of stuff like this.

Well I was going to make a comment, but I'll let you career women scrap it out:D:rolleyes:

It's hard trying to make it as stand-up comedian, though it's easy to see why you never found work, though well done you for trying.

Oh dear Jaysay, you must learn to read the links better ... Maybe if the slogan had read 'Tories to cut pensions by 50%' would have grabbed your attention more. :D

Fell flat anyway.

Stand up ??? are you kidding !!!

Good to see that Germany has not influenced your British sense of humour Dave. :)

I bet the people in Church can't wait for you to arrive, it will give them someone to look down on.

I see your ANGLE & there's a joke in there but I'll not go down that road :D :D

There's also an oblique referrence to a Hyndburn politican .... the comment is supposed to have been made by Gregory the Great, who, I believe, became Pope.;):D

I'm surprised that my comment hasn't been yanked by the mods, because it ain't in English ... but, there was a time, long, long ago, in a world now lost, that knowing what "non angli, sed angeli" meant was taught in schools all over Britain. ... it was right up there with Alfred burning the cakes, C'nut telling the sea to go take a hike, 1066 and all that, Nelson's signal to the fleet etc., etc, etc. Starting to feel old I am (thanks Yoda) ...

jeez ya must be old mate. i never learnt it.:D

That's me, older than dirt .... but I definitely remember an illustration in a hist'ry book at All Sinners in Clayton .... oh, and if you want to learn in school, it is adviseable to stay awake, or at least, take some time off from dipping the pigtails of the girl in front of you into your inkwell;):D Hey, that's me: one of the last of the inkwell generation:mosher:

Inkwells! - what luxury - I remember scratching on slates

Flea powder could have cured many of your woes, (and ours if you'd used DDT).

Or was 'scratching on Slates', a euphemism of the 50's for what flashy did on her school roof?
