Come on, get going...it is only 19 weeks to Christmas. How do I know?
Mick told me.
When I lost the data from the external hard drive, in among that stuff were a lot of card projects and designs that I have used in the past.
I made cards each year...just tweaked them a bit so that if someone did get a handmade card, then there was a fair chance it was different from one they might previously have received.
I like home made things as Christmas gifts......and Christmas cards are just another branch of that craft tree.
I used to be getting my stuff together round about now for making my Christmas cakes.
I used to make about a dozen of these to give away as gifts.......some were only little ones, but some were big ones.
Come September there would be tins dotted about the house with 'maturing' cakes in them.
These cakes would be given a snall dose of brandy each week to make sure that they were moist and tasty.
When the tins were opened for this ritual the house would reek of rich fruity, boozy aromas.
The cakes would all be fondant iced and have different decoated tops.
I always did one for the ward and this was carefully transported up to the hospital by himself on Christmas Eve.
The Night staff would be warned with the shadow of death if they cut into it before I came on duty on Christmas morning(it must have worked because they never did cut into it). When the cake was cut I would make sure that a portion of it was put aside for those who worked the night shift.
I would make my own peppermint creams, coffee creams, fudge, peanut brittle, brandy snaps and the like and put them into little boxes...for those of my friends who were really difficult to buy for.
I don't do much of that now.....so I am just doing the cards.
Because lots of my designs were lost, I am starting from scratch.
This year I know that the cards are all new...so I won't have to think about what i sent last year...this years will definitely be different.
Here are a couple more of my designs.
