All over for another year......thank goodness.
And no mis-haps...well, at least none that have been spotted yet.
We didn't do the big traditional Christmas dinner.....neither of us are that fond of Turkey. We had Roast Beef......an of course all the trimmings.
Himself had strawberries and cream for afters.
I like Christmas Cake but Christmas pud doesn't do it for me.
I cooked for the two of us and for the old lady next door......she should have been going away with her son,who was supposed to be coming down from the highlands of Scotland......alas snow and flu stopped those plans.......so she had the roast with us......and my pensioner neighbour who lives below us.
Himself went in to wish him the best of the season, just as he was taking a bit of frozen chicken out to cook...so he was invited to share our meal too.
This morning the tinlids came over to open their presents at our house....like they hadn't got enough stuff over at theirs.
They had eyes like saucers when they saw the pile of stuff.
Miss Bossy drawers wanted to know why Santa hadn't left the presents round at their house......I told her that there was no room under their tree......the little madam has an answer for everything and came back with the reply 'Well, he could have put them on the sofa...it would have saved him having to come down your chimney as well'
I told her I had left the door open for him as I knew they wouldn't go under the tree.
We haven't stuffed our faces, but we have eaten well......the children have had a good day, and when all is said and done, Christmas is for them.
My sister sent me the Delia Christmas cookbook...it has some lovely recipes in, and the accompanying pictures make your mouth water.....but, I am happy with what I have had.
I hope your day was warm, with family friends and enough good food to leave you smilingly content.
