16 days before the rellies arrive. They fly into manchester on the 2nd of May...round about Lunch time. I have started thinking about the meals I will be offering. I like cooking, though it is a very long time since I have cooked for 5 adults and a child. I am thinking that I might just get the quantities wrong to start off with...just as long as I err on the side of too much...then no-one goes hungry.
In Oz, the families seem to eat out a lot...and they also have quite a good deal of takeaways too. I don't think we'll be doing that...although if they want a curry they will have to get it somewhere else....and preferably eat it somewhere else too. The smell of it makes me heave.
I won't be giving them tripe and onions...I don't think it would go down too well. I will be doing a monster potato pie with mushy peas........shepherds pie too.......I will do the traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings and home made Yorkshire pud.......Spag bol is hubby's domain.....lasagne.......Chicken in a white wine sauce.......plate meat pie...sausage and mash with onion gravy
I will also do a big baked egg custard...you can't get those in Oz....Bread and butter pudding....Cabinet pudding...and I will bake some of my Florentines........I don't mind the cooking......I just hope someone will volunteer to do the washing up. Everyone we have visited over in Oz has a dishwasher...so washing up is not something they will be good at...well apart from my sister-in-law...she washes up in the sink like us.
I have a dishwasher (of sorts) he is a 1943 model and it is very hard to get the parts for them these days
