harry carey

I couldn't make my mind up if 'har' meant he or she with a name like Harry. I'm still not sure

I'm ex Ossy and I remember the name but can't put a face to it. Where did he live and how old would he be?
(I also remember a Mary Carey up on Grove St. I wonder if they were related.

When he died he was living on the White Ash Estate think he lived on White Ash Lane before, I'm sure nortype will know:confused:

Harry and his brother [can,t recall his name] were quite well known in homing pigeon racing in Ossy.
I think he also kept racing Whippets
Any one who went into James St Club would remember him.
Peter the name you are looking for is Tom and he lives round the corner from me he still races pigeons but not Whippets

I remember Harry. He used to live in Stonebridge Lane & supped at the Rhoden Inn (among others!). He was a drayman for Duttons. He used to come out with some classics - "I saw a mate of yours today" What was he called? "I can't remember but if you can tell me his first name I'll be able to tell you his second" hahaha.

I remember Harry, I used to run errands for his wife when they lived on Stonebridge Lane on the terrace, that was in the 60's He ended up living on the estate at the back of the heyes, curlew or mallard or could be Kinfisher. He was a good mate of my dads when they were young and they worked for Thwaites' brewery. Weren't his daughters Pat and Ann? He would have been in his 80's now. He was one of Ossy's legends.

I remember Harry Carey also his Brother Tommy, Harry was a real character, always somewhere on Union Rd, he died several years ago after ( I believe ) having both legs removed, in the 70s, and 80,s I spent a lot of time in his company when we were members of Ossy Homing Society, and James St club, his brother tommy and his wife used to have a cafe on Union Rd
