Why am I telling you this?
Because himself has just had boil in the bag kippers for lunch....and do you know.......I swear I could smell them through the plastic.......but once they got onto his plate I had to retreat upstairs.......the stink was making me gag.
I could still smell them upstairs.......so I looked in my bedroom meds box and found a small jar of Vicks.....a blob of this stuff under your nostrils and you could wade through pig muck unaffected.
This trick was something I learnt during my nursing career....if we had to go to a postmortem....and sometimes we were encouraged to go(no-one would force you, but you really felt obliged)......PMs (not personal messages) can be a bit pungent......so being a good scout I nearly always had a little jar of Vicks in my bag.
Himself enjoyed the kippers with some fresh bread and butter.....and even after the plae was washed up, and the kipper packet was in the bin outside, I could still smell them......I was silly enough to wipe the vick off the snot carpet(That bit between your nose and your top lip) so I have had to spray the living room with Lavender air freshener....now it smells like lavender Kippers.
