I know I am in midst of my thought-cleansing sabbatical from accyweb whilst most my hours are filled with long hours of work and then overtime. I decided I will post on my rant-a-blog
My Ipod Classic chose the most inopportune time to screw up on me. First the battery decides to take half-days holiday and then the HardDisk itself decides to take a sabbatical.
Last thing I wanted to do after spending the best part of 12hours in front of a computer runningXP is to come home and sit infront of my PC and boot up 7. Whilst 7 decides whether or not to install drivers for umsboot i am taking the time-out to write this rant.
The 80GB Ipod Classic has been my constant companion since 2008. Oh well I suppose It has had good innings. Just with the trip down south and monthly pay... Grr what a time to die on me
Fingers crossed...
EDIT
Great. So after much faffing about, the recovery method w/itunes reinstalled the original Ipod classic firmware. There has been the odd jitter here and there since using Rockbox via Emcore kernel on my Ipod Classic. SO. I am hoping that the hard drive isn't damaged. Though I have had it since 2008. I have kept good care of it(unusual for me) Going to load a few things that I have on storage drive onto it and hope it works at least till I can find a new replacement. It will feel like I have an inferior player again running the Classic Firmware....
But. Damn. I loved Rockbox. Rockbox turned the Ipod Classic into THE BEST personal music player out there. Well I say THE BEST. It is the best for the audiophile that I have come across. Gapless playback of FLAC files(need i say more?) Graphic EQ that kicks hell out of the Apple one. Hell, it annoys me that Apple locked the hell out of the Ipod Classic... Here is a player that is capable of playing 24bit audio at 96KHZ FLAC/WAV files and they don't even have 16bit FLAC support via the official Ipod firmware. Instead they have their own stupid Apple Lossless. Which is as stupid as using Microsoft's WMA instead of MP3. Stupid Apple. Stupid.
