I've been ratified

Well, apparently I've been ratified - I've never been ratified before so don't quite know what to expect. It sounds like some sort of medical torture 'doctor - there's no cure, she needs to be ratified'.

Anyway, I found out in the most appropriate way for me - via a reporter. First thing this morning I got a phone call from the Lancs Eve Tel wanting to talk to me about it, apparently they'd already had it confirmed by Lesley Jackson who's the Labour deputy. The reporter asked me what I felt my chances were because PB has been in the seat for so long - obviously, had to say that I thought my chances were pretty good. Bit of a daft question as I was hardly going to say that I didn't think I stood a chance.

Got home this evening and there was a message on my answering machine from Lesley saying that a reporter might try and get hold of me and congratulations for being ratified.

So that's it, it's as official as it gets - I'm standing for council. I have to admit it does seem a very grown up thing to do. My grandad would have been incredibly proud of me if he'd been alive.

I've started to get a bit of a campaign team together, quite a few people who are willing to pound the beat with me delivering leaflets and knocking on doors. I've got to go to a meeting soon with all the other people who've been ratified to discuss the campaign in detail.
