Well it now feels like Christmas is coming. I've posted the last of the cards, and have just a few local ones to deliver.
Out of the blue I got a card from my old boss in London's son. When I first realised I was working with the owner's son I thought he might be hard work, I was wrong he was an absolute gem. He wasn't at all pushy and never pulled rank, even though in theory I was his boss, and despite the fact one day the whole company would be his. He sent me a photograph of his children with their Christmas card. When I left in 2001 they had two little boys, now they have a little sister as well, Lola.
The eldest boy must be about ten now, and has really changed. I used to help him with his reading when he came in, and being a nice little boy he always used to write a thankyou letter delivered by his Dad to thank me for helping him. He always finished off with the request to please stop smoking as he didn't want me to die. I never smoked infront of him but my cigarettes were always around in my office. I did manage to convince him for a while that menthol cigarettes were good for you, until his Dad explained there were just as bad, and I was rumbled.
When Mum's finished at the hairdressers we are off to do what is hopefully the last of the Christmas shopping. I've had two good nights sleep in a row and I feel good. Sleep apart I feel in a more positive frame of mind again, and am determined not to moan so much in my blog. Infact that should be my New Years resolution, no whinging. I'll give it about a week!
