I've been snowed on, rained on, hailstoned on and now sleeted on - why aren't elections in August so that we can do all the campaigning in June and July. Although knowing British weather we can't guarantee that it won't rain then either can we?
A new leaflet came out this week - Graham is a demon for producing these really strong leaflets at short notice - about the PCSOs from central government, plus the 24 community wardens that Labour will provide. It's such a strong message - safety on the street - that I hope people take notice.
Have to say, all credit to the work that Graham does for the party around election time. Because we're not allowed to send out any letters without them having all the official bumpf on everything has to be typeset by Graham and he turns them around really quickly. He's not just doing it for me of course, there are 11 of us making demands on his time.
Had a really good long chat with David Myles today about plans for the future should we get in. I'd be interested in taking the cabinet post of Culture and Leisure but I'm not expecting it - I'll be a newbie and I'm sure that all the cabinet posts will go to more experienced people than me. It's good that we're all talking positively about the plans for the future - we have to so that we can keep our morale up.
Only three and a half weeks to go and it's getting tiring but no pain no gain. It's only going to get worse as the time goes on so we just have to keep doing what we're doing and go for it. Fortunately, I've got a good strong team helping me - not just in the party but friends as well. Malcolm did the whole of the West End side of my patch and my Dad's done some leafleting today plus Chris went out and did the whole of the Union Road area. Brilliant support and I'd be stuffed without it!
More canvasing all this week!
