So, the two of us meandered down through the shopping areas towards the docks.
It was then that the lad said he was hungry....and when he is hungry...like the advert says...he is not himself.
Now he came to mention it, I was a bit peckish too.....even though it was not yet midday.
The boy likes Wetherspoons. I think it makes him feel a bit grown up.We found a Wetherspoons, but it was packed to the rafters....so we did not stay.
Then we found another one....that was the same.
Tyler remembered visiting a Wetherspoons that was a bit off the beaten track....and that was the one we went in....found a table quickly and sat down.
He takes time choosing what he wants to eat.
So I went and got drinks for us.
He was horrified when I got back because I had a large balloon glass with a Parma Violet gin(a double) with a lot of ice and a splash of soda and a large glass of Zinfandel.
He knew what the Zinfandel was, but did not know what was in the balloon glass....I told him and his face said it all.
He said he hoped that he would not have to carry me back to the bus.
I told him that I was going to be eating so he need not worry.
He ate a plateful of food and then said he could just eat apple crumble and ice cream.
He asked me if I was going to have a pudding.
As I had been unable to finish off my grilled chicken breast, I told him that it was unlikely.
So he went and got himself dessert....I tucked the uneaten chicken breast into a plastic bag for the cats to enjoy.
I finished both of my drinks with no adverse effects....much to the lads delight.
So we finished eating and set off again on our meanderings.
The half marathon was over and the council men were removing the traffic barriers.
We crossed the Strand to Albert Dock.
I kept putting my bag down to take pictures.....the day had started off bright ,but by now it had clouded over....and was decidedly grey.
We headed to the booking office of the open top bus....we were going to get tickets, then have a walk to the ferry to book the Mersey cruise.
Alas, the boat was just leaving its moorings so we knew it would be gone for at least fifty minutes.
We did not want to hang around the waterfront for that amount of time......I took pictures of the Beatles Statues.....and the Liver building....as I was doing this a bus pulled in.
There were too many people in the queue for us to get on it...so we waited a few minutes for the next one.
I like the open top bus, there is a commentary all about the area you are going through...historical, factual informative and of course sprinkled with a bit of scouse humour.
We got off at the third stop....this allowed us to seek out Matthew Street and the Cavern.
It was loud and quite busy.
The boy said he would quite like a look in Liverpool One, so even though we had not come to look at the shops....we did walk through the place. I can't say that it impresses me much.
Then Tyler said he would quite like to go up to the viewing platform at Radio City.
This is a boy who gets vertigo if he stands on tiptoe.
I reminded him that it was 138 metres high...he said he knew and was 'up for it'.
So that was what we did next....it cost me a tenner and he did come over a bit green around the gills for a few minutes.
The views were spectacular. I asked him to point out where the Adelphi was.
He pointed to a building straight ahead.
I knew that was not it, but did not know exactly where it was...other than it was not far from Lime street station.
I took a few pics and then the lad wanted to get back to terra firma....so it was a fairly short visit.
The pictures taken from the tower all look a bit hazy...I think that might be because they have been taken through glass...apologies.
To be continued.
