Mouth Ulcers

Benipete

Tackler
Been suffering now for months with an ulcer under my tongue, tried the usual things Bonjela etc and even the new one iglu.Iglu has been the best but still in constant pain.Doctor was as much use as a handbrake on a canoe. Can anyone help?:confused:

It sounds too simple but.... gargle with salt water, not too strong, do it for about three or four days and it should be gone. Do it in the morning and after lunch, and then finally at night before bed and dont have anything to eat or drink after it. It tastes horrible but it should do the trick. Always works for me anyway.
Hope this helps. I would say one flat teaspoon in a half a tea mug of tepid water, gargle, then spit out.

If you have a dentist I suggest you have him see it.
Dentists are trained to diagnose all problems in the mouth - not just teeth

Depending on how brave you're feeling, put some salt on it (it will sting like heck, but it works) or as Bonny Tuesday said gargle with salt water, these usually work for me.

Benipete ya should see another doctor and get a second opinion, i have a mouth ulcer and had it only 3 days and its starting to heal, if ya have had this for over a few months then ya should get it seen too properly;)

ya not stressed are you?

definately think it needs investigating further, but in the short term if you like cheese eat a small amount regularly it keeps the acid in your saliva down to a minimum so will help with the healing process

Mouth ulcers can be a sign of vitamin b1 deficiency, hows your diet? Would definately get a second opinion if symptons persist.

Also, do you smoke? Smoking ruins the protective coating that we have inside our cheeks and on our gums. You really should go and see the dentist. He will check for all sorts of nasties, and he knows more about your mouth than a doctor would. While you have the ulcer, dont eat tomatoes, strawberrys, pineapple, or pepper, they will make it worse.

I have had ulcers twice on my tongue, my doc refered me to my dentist, who sent me to the oral clinic at BRI and last year The Royal Blackburn, on both occasions thy cut it out after trying steroid desolvable tabs on it. It was very sore for a few days, but healed perfectly in around a week. mine are caused by the amount of medication I take, which I suppose is a necessary side effect, I need the medication:(

best way is to gargle with Jack Daniels .. a full 70cl bottle every 6 hours..then get on the stronbow super ..4 cans every 3 hours.. sorted!

Gargle with T,C,P,,,It really does work but it smells like Tom Cat Pi*ss...maybe thats where those initials came from :D:confused::D
