Do you know what goes onto the paper when printing newspapers?
If you did you would not want anything you plan to eat wrapped in one.
It wasn't a night out in our day Margaret, if you didn't call in the chippy (no kebab shops or curry houses in those days) on the way home, for a ton of chips and a battered whaleThe chips and fish were always put onto paper before being wrapped in newspaper...the newspapaer was just used to insulate the food...to stop it going cold on the way home........so the food didn't come into contact with the ink.
As others have said, many of us, over the years have eaten foods that were wrapped in this way and have come to no harm.

.......so the food didn't come into contact with the ink....
Its not just the ink, its the water solution used in the printing process as well

Or you've gotta eat a peck o' dirt before you die.My late father in law's favourite saying was
'You've only so much dirt to eat afore you die'
Mainly after he'd picked his butty up of the workshop floor!
I remember the Irish gangers on the road works using their shovel to spread the Asphalt, then using the same shovel to cook bacon and eggs on at lunchtimeMy late father in law's favourite saying was
