So...off we both went. In a taxi to Lymm.
Ma had got rid of most of her facial bruising.......she was just left with the faintest yellow patch over her eye.......almost un-noticeable.
Not me though. My face looked like a boiled lobster with lumps.
The out of date Piriton did work, so I wasn't itching anymore....but I knew that it wouldn't last more than six hours..........thank goodness we were going to be in Llandudno for lunchtime.
I did get some funny looks on the coach, but everyone was too polite to point the finger and laugh.
I like going to Llandudno....it is just a short ride down the motorway, it is flat, and all the hotels we have ever been to there have been very good.
We were going to be staying at the Esplanade. We hadn't been to this hotel before........it was close to the pier so at the top end of Llandudno.
We arrived in Llandudno by 11.30. Far too early to go to the Hotel, so Jesse our driver gave us a tour around the resort......that took us to midday.
He wasn't sure if we would be able to sit in the lounge of the hotel until our lunch was ready.
I have never been on a coach trip where you are given lunch on arrival.
Jesse took us to the Hotel. He went in and asked if we were too early......No, we could sit in the lounge and lunch was just about to be served.
We all trooped off the coach, made our way to the lounge just as a steaming urn of tomato soup was being put on the table.
There was also a table with a good selection of freshly made sandwiches and salad.
We were told to help ourselves.
I went and got Ma a dish of the home made soup, and a plate of sandwiches.......beef, ham, chicken, cheese and pickle and egg mayo......we shared these.
The receptionist came into the lounge and told us that our rooms would not be ready until about 2pm, so to take our time over lunch.
I gobbled my sandwiches and told Ma that I was going to go out to the chemists to get some more anti-histamines.
Off I went. I knew where I was going to go, there was no need to recce the place.
Superdrug.....I saw the pharmacist, asked for Chlorphenamine(the generic version of Piriton...cheaper and just as effective).....No they didn't have any, but would sell me Piriton at 3 quid more than the generic version. I declined and headed to Boots.
They did have the generic version....I bought a pack, and took one straight away.
I headed back to the hotel. Ma was sat in the lounge and had gained a male friend....no change there then. They were having a real good natter.
Before long our room was ready.
We were up on the second floor...at the back of the hotel.
Ma likes to have a sea view, but because she had booked relatively late there were no sea views to be had.
The room was bright and airy, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was small but sparkling clean.
I asked if Ma wanted to be pushed around the resort......she didn't, she wanted to have a lie down and watch a bit of TV.
I went out by myself. The sun was shining and there was a fresh breeze coming in off the sea......it cooled my ruddy cheeks.
The sea front was buzzing with families enjoying the half term break, there were children paddling in the sea. It was hard to believe that it was the butt end of October.
