Me and Nic are off to see Michael Buble at the MEN arena tonight....Ok, I know it goes by a different name now...but it will always be the MEN to me.
When this British tour was mooted Nicola said she would very much like to go. this was well before she had been so ill. She asked me to look out for tickets.
I tried very hard to get tickets, but they were all snapped up in quick time.
If we had been able to get tickets we had planned to have a couple of nights away from home - hotel and shopping in Manchester...what could be better?
When Nicola got sick it became apparent that this would not be possible.
Just before Christmas I saw the concert advertised in the Lancashire Telegraph.
At that point Nicola was having a really tough time with treatment...it was gruelling and made her really rough.
I bought these tickets as a way of saying how proud I was of the way she had dealt with what had been thrown at her....how she had coped.
Neither of us were sure if she would be well enough to go...but we were going to give it a damn good shot.
When I told her about the tickets on Christmas Eve she said she didn't want any Christmas presents...she wanted to ignore Christmas...pretend it wasn't happening.
I told her that they were NOT a Christmas pressie......but to say Well done in the face of adversity.
She was in tears that I had gone to the trouble of organising this for her(and me as well, so not that altruistic then).
Anyway tonight is the night......Nicola has been conserving her energy, she has been bought a new top, some pants and a new pair of shoes so that she feels done up like a dogs dinner...so it really feels like a special night out.
I am taking her for an early tea, and we might even have a little glass of wine before we pick up the coach.
I am really looking forward to it.
More so because I didn't think we would get to go.
We are going to savour every second of seeing our favourite crooner.....and as far as we are concerned he will be singing his songs just for us.
