This morning I've just started taking all the drugs I'm supposed to be having according to the neurologist, for the first time in six weeks.

I've really enjoyed feeling that my head was clear in that time, but I think I need them after all.

At Mum's yesterday, she gently stated that I am shaking a lot more. I'd realised this myself. Even sat on the loo my foot taps out messages in morse code, and my hand moves so I can't read whatever 'bathroom literature' I have to hand. Even feeling not safe to drive, because of the tremor in my leg was a pain, although I did feel ok yesterday afternoon and collected the light for my aquarium.

Some of the people who read this blog may have met me. They may think he seems perfectly ok, and sometimes I am. Perhaps I should become a socialite or an alcholic, as I never seem as bad when I've had a drink!

What is it like? I did once blog what Parkinson's Disease actually is, but it was wiped away in the 'Great Change Over'.

How does it actually feel to me?

My right hand is the worst. I look at it and know what I want it to do for me, but because the chemicals in my brain don't tell it to, it doesn't, or at least not right away, and even then very, very slowly. My right foot is the same, but luckily I don't have to wipe my bum with that.

The shaking I never find embarrassing. A challenge sometimes, but it doesn't really bother me. It can vary from slight, when I'm holding something, to a full on seal clapping for a fish when I get stressed. The worse thing is the lack of control. I have never been a nervous person in my life, but if something unexpected happens, like someone comes to the door, off it goes. So that's my main gripe there, people thinking I'm a nervous nelly when I'm in fact not!

The other lesser symptoms I'm coping with now, the speech difficulties sometimes, the muscle rigidity, and the freezing when I walk. The exercises I insisted I be given to do now, are paying off, and make me feel proactive before the symtoms may get worse.

This isn't one of my moan, moan, moan entries. My mood is still good. Sure, I'm miffed that I've realised I do need all the drugs, and may start feeling a bit woozey again, but on the whole I'm happy.

I still have a feeling that with all the research people are doing, there will be a cure for this, and lots of other diseases, before it affects both sides of my body.

Every Friday I go to Mum's for tea, we have a wonderful salad, with all the yummy things that are left from my Brother's shop, prawns, coronaton chinken, ckicken bang-bang etc. We sit there and watch Mastermind and University Challenge together, recorded from earlier in the week.

She looked at me last night, and asked if there is was anything that I missed about living in the 'Big City'?

Hand on my heart, there isn't. I've counted my blessings, stopped being mard arse, and realised I'm a very lucky boy.
