So to bed......

Ma never needs much help to get to sleep when we are away......she gets on the bed saying she will watch a bit of TV and before you know it, she is sending up sonorous zeds.......not that I mind because it means that she is still breathing.
I know that might seem a bit crass, but one of my worst fears about these holidays is that we will go off somewhere as two and only one of us will come back......when we went to Weston, I thought it would be Ma going home on her own!
I try to put these morbid thoughts to the back of my mind....but it does happen on coach trips.

Anyway there was nothing different about this particular evening......Ma took her meds and settled down to watch something about the Chelsea Flower show and the next minute she was asleep.
I turned the TV off and read for a while before settling down myself........I did feel tired and was off in no time.
I woke up just after 1am........there was a stag and hen party from Liverpool staying at the Imperial across the road...and I'm not entirely sure if they were going out, or coming in, but there was a lot of raucous shouting and drunken singing going on......and it was a bit annoying because I couldn't actually hear what was being shouted.......I lay there in the dark listening, and just as I was dropping off to sleep again another lot would start up.
I got up at one point and there were two buxom women(that is the kind terminology for them) squaring up to one another.......and two equally stocky fellas trying to keep them apart.....not that successfully, as one of the women managed to get a handful of blonde hair of her opponent......which caused a lot of screamed expletives, which I did hear......something which rhymes with 'looking rich'.....and then the security guy from the hotel(in reality, the elderly night porter) came out and got everyone inside.
Quietness reigned again, but I couldn't get over to sleep.
I put my MP3 player on and listened to music for about an hour......still couldn't drop off.
it was coming light before I got over again.

So when it was time to get up I wanted to lie in bed.
Couldn't stay in bed and go on the trip....so what was it going to be?
Bed?
Trip?
Bed?
Trip?

Trip won,so I hauled myself out of bed and got to the bathroom...ma opened one eye and asked 'Is it morning?'
I told her it was and that I could smell bacon frying.
That is as good as a kick start for ma....she loves her cooked brekkie when we are away.
Once my ablutions were completed she took her turn in the bathroom, and while she did this I made both beds (I know, I know, they have ladies who do that for you when you are on hols - I just like to leave the place looking tidy).

Our trip was leaving at 9am so we had to have had breakfast and be on the coach for 8.50.......these Welsh trains don't wait for late comers.
We both had a hearty breakfast......and chatted to Pat and Sheila.
Pat had met Brian in the bar the previous evening. He had been asking if they had seen me out and about......she told him that
we had gone up to the room after dinner.
Apparently he had been looking for me to buy me a drink and continue our natter.

We were on the coach in good time.....and ready for our jaunt to Carnarvon, where we were going to be boarding the Welsh Highland train.
The day was bright with a little bit of blue sky, but as we got nearer to Carnarvon the clouds rolled over and looked a bit ominous.
By the time we got on the train it was spitting......as we went up the mountain it rained harder and the mountains were obscured by grey mist.
I was hoping to get some good pictures, but there was going to be little chance of seeing very much.
I could imagine how the scenery would look on a bright sunny day...stunning was the only way to describe it...my imagination would have to do, as there was no way I was getting anything that would look stunning that day.
Our Journey took us to Rhydd-Ddu(pronounced Reedy), the coach and our driver were waiting for us there.......by now the rain was pelting down.....it felt like it had ice particles in it too.
We were all glad to get back on the coach and into the warm.
We were going back to Carnarvon and we would have a little over an hour there to look around and get a bite to eat.

We parked down by the side of the castle.
It is a bit of a pull up the hill and into the town.
I was trying to build up a head of steam to get the chair up there when over my head I heard a sort of 'phut' sound and then was hit by a deluge of seagull poo.....don't laugh, I will know if you are laughing! You are laughing aren't you?

My coat, my bag and the wheelchair were well splattered with this nasty substance.
A very kind lady helped me to wipe off as much as we could, but my navy blue coat was still a mess.
I also noted a large dollop on my trousers.
I think the blooming seagull had been taking laxatives.
(Ma got a few splatters on her coat too, but these were not discovered until we got back to the hotel)
I felt very scruffy in my poo stained clothes.
I parked mum up.....the rain had now stopped, though the sky was grey.
I went and bought ma a drink and a pasty....I almost wrapped the coffee cup in a tissue with seagull poo on it.......but at the last minute spotted that it was soiled.

I set off to the charity shops and bought myself a new jacket, and a pair of clean trousers....aaah, that was better.

When we got back on the coach we were going for a little trip across the Menai Bridge to Anglesey....to the village with the longest name.....Llanfairpwyllgwyn......and I stop there as I have run out of steam.
We stopped at the Pringle outlet......now I find these places a bit tedious and overpriced, so while everyone went inside I went to Somerfield and bought a paper and a couple of soft drinks.
All the folks on the coach said I should be buying a lottery ticket as the splattering with bird poo was lucky.

to be continued.........
The pictures are ....1) Brian on the train.
2) Rainy view from the train.
3)Another rainy view from the train
4) Carnarvon Castle
5) signpost outside Carnarvon Castle
6) signpost for Llanfair PG.
7)Specially for Mick...a picture of a seagull :D

Well, yes, I'm sorry but I did laugh at the seagull poo. They say it's lucky but I'm not sure who for, probably the person next to you who didn't get pood on.

Jen, you weren't on your own...... a lot of folk laughed at my misfortune....but hey, I got a new jacket and pants out of it so I guess it is an ill wind.
