So there was Ma with a face like a pub brawler, and knuckles to match......and praying that it would all have healed up by the time we went away.

The break.....the little holiday, well....I think this may have been precipitated by my overnight stay in Manchester........it made Ma want to go away again........so she dug all the brochures out.......what am I saying?
There wasn't much digging to be done, they all reside either on the sofa, or on a table by the sofa....all close to hand so that when Ma is feeling a bit jaded she can look at them and plan where she would like to go next.

Ma had asked me if Daughter would be having a 'reading week'.....so I asked her......Yes, was the answer.

Ma was gleeful and it took her no time at all to book us a break away.
I gently suggested that a long journey was not ideal...so Ma plumped for Llandudno.
That was fine by me.....I like it because it is on the flat.

In fact daughter had more than a reading week.......she got a particularly nasty cold off one of the children and couldn't go to Uni for the week before half term.......she felt really off and said that her brain felt like porridge.
I trotted across the road with chicken soup(home made) to sustain her....though she said it didn't taste of much.....it tasted fine to me so I reckoned it was her taste buds at fault, not my soup.

I kept my fingers crossed that I wouldn't catch whatever it was that she had got....but to no avail.......I started with a woolly head and a sore throat......aaargh.

Not what I wanted. I got the jug out and gave myself regular doses of steam, honey and lemon too......and the cold didn't really develop. Hooray! Then my sinuses filled up and I had pain in my face and I felt like i had a ten pound bag of spuds hanging off the bridge of my nose.
Ma said I sounded terrible.......and worried that I was not going to be better for our jaunt.
I worried that I was not going to be better for our jaunt too.

I rummaged through the medicine drawer and found a part completed course of antibiotics.........I thought that these would hit the sinus infection on the head.......so I took them sporadically, not how they are supposed to be taken at all.
Some days I would remember to take the whole days worth, and other days I would forget a dose here and there.
This is not a good way to take antibiotics.......and I KNOW this.

I was on the last couple of antibiotics on the Sunday before we were due to go away.
I took one, and missed one.
I took the last one on the morning we were travelling.......I took it in the dark, before I had had a chance to see myself in the mirror.
If I had seen myself I would not have taken the last one.
I had a face like a poisoned pig.....it was swollen, and covered in red blotches.
I investigated further and found that I was covered in this livid red rash.
Once I had seen it, it itched like crazy.......I wanted to scratch my skin off.
I checked the medicine drawer for anti-histamines. There was just one out of date Piriton. I took it. It had to be better than nothing.

I just hoped that I wouldn't be banned from getting on the coach when the driver saw me.
