That Wedding.......!

We got the bus back from Bury on Saturday and three elderly ladies got on.
They sat behind us and it was impossible not to eavesdrop their conversation.....well, no I could have put my music on, but I am really glad that I didn't.

The ladies, all in their late 70's or perhaps even early eighties were talking about the forthcoming Royal Wedding......talking eagerly and enthusiastically about it.

In my head, I gave them all names......Edith, Betty and Gracie.
Edith had a blue rinse and walked with a stick and was wearing a very fetching sky blue jacket with paler blue trousers.
Betty...she must've been a showgirl...she had a bit of lipstick on and the faintest blue eyeshadow....and blusher, don't forget the blusher. Betty was dressed in peach and was wearing trainers(perhaps not a showgirl after all).
Gracie, she had what looked like a newly done perm...the curls were all tight and pure white......she wore rimless glasses and was dressed in a beige jacket with brown striped trousers...her white blouse was adorned with a pretty cameo brooch.

Edith started off by saying that she was really looking forward to the wedding.......
'ahm gonna ged up early and ged th'ousework outta t' way...then ah'll wesh missel an tek mi curlers out....ahm gonna put a frock on and then ah'll sit deawn and ah'll feel like ahm thur'.
Betty joined in and said she was looking forward to it too.
'eeh I carned wait to see all them toffs in thur posh hats.
Mi son bowt me a bottle of Brandy fer mi birthday. I aven't oppened it yet..but I might just crack it oppen and 'ave some in me mornin coffee...to celebrate wi 'em like'

Gracie who seemed the most refined of the three said she didn't much like coffee.

Betty said, 'well, tha dun't ave to ave coffee, tha can ave it in tea if tha likes'

'No' said Gracie ' I think I will have a small glass of sherry to toast the happy couple'

She sat for a moment and then said ' I do think that Kate is a bonny girl.......I hope William treats her better than that ba$tard treated Diana'...
Then there was a sharp intake of breath and she apologised to her friends for swearing......and said 'I still get mad when I think of what a miserable life she must've had......he husband seeing that b**** Camilla......she has a face like a horses bum'

I was trying my very best to stifle my amusement...but must've been doing a bad job of it because Gracie tapped me on the shoulder and apologised to me for swearing.........I told her that I didn't mind, and that I agred with every word she said.
Betty joined in at this point and made a comment about Camilla.......it had something like 'ride' in it,(or could it have been she was a rollicking good bride) but that is all I'm saying.:)
Needless to say we all ended up chuckling.
So there are people out there who will be glued to the TV,taking in all the pomp and ceremony.........I am just not going to be one of them.

I spoke to my sister this morning...she too is going to be watching whatever Oz Tv happen to transmit.......she has declined to work that night, she is going over to another brit friends house, they are making a finger buffet and having some sparkling wine...though she says she isn't getting dressed up...she will be wearing her PJ's........it will be all evening of a job for them, and she says she may just fall asleep before it ends(she will have worked the previous night).

I hope you have enjoyed my little tale.
