The Gills (Away) Thread

Someone in the northern hemisphere has to start it.

[Watchdog]

Well, looking at the team with Mellor, Baghelou and Conneeley all starting i think we have a decent starting 11 as i thought these lads might be injured. I had us down for a draw but i am now looking at us winning. C'mon you Reds

The Gills fans on Twitter seem to think they have their strongest squad in years.

They have. Their new American owners have splashed the cash on League 1 and ex Championship players. Similar to Wrexham......

C'mon STANLEY...and congrats to the England ladies team...

[Crown Grounder]

Welcome Kiwi....

[Kiwi John]

I claim FULL responsibility for Englands win-I punted Columbia and so far for entire world cup, I haven't had a collect.

[Kiwi John]

[Kiwi John]

Predictions (four went missing from last week’s entrants) were four for a Stanley win, six for the draw and ten for a home win

[VALAIRIAN]

Andrews will be sent off if he is not substituted

On a yellow already and has pushed his man over a couple of times since.....

Needs to calm down

[Kiwi John]

C'mon reds -pinch one.

[Kiwi John]

Bummer -grumpy Sunday.

Ah well reality has kicked in always going to be difficult at Gillingham.

The Gills had a much more cultured style of play, less physical than either Newport or Bradford. They played football with good link up play. They were direct and could always find a man with their passes. Think we are still work in progress with some wayward passing. We are very predictable with Josh Andrews up front but he does so well whilst constantly under attack from defenders. I don't think we are getting the best out of Tommy Leigh and today Nolan in particular didn't get close enough to Andrews. In defence we did pretty well against the Gills front line who will cause problems for many side in this League. We just didn't create enough chances and maybe were a bit unlucky with how the ball fell (or didn't fall) to our players. Didn't notice any new injuries today, let's hope that was the case.

To be honest Andy, we were the better side.....

Their goal came from nothing and first goal is key at this level

Not what Mr Coleman thinks he said we were awful and deserved nothing from the game, struggling to defend the long ball game he knew Gillingham would play and woeful in our own attacking game their keeper hadn't a save to make.
