Well, it is two weeks since the ginger ninja's arrived.
It feels like they have been here much longer than that.
Our house is full of kitten stuff.
A vast array of all kinds of toys. Some with Catnip, some without. Balls that light up when they are rolled, bells that tinkle...a caterpillar on a stick, a couple of laser mice(they spend ages chasing the tiny red lights).
A medium sized scratching post was bought to let them stretch and dig their claws into.
Pretty soon it was found to be a bit flimsy if both of them wanted to play at the same time(and they did)...so a three tier one was obtained and they love it.
They are eating like it is going out of fashion...dry biscuits , but also himself is giving them a little wet food too(Sheba tiny tins of delicate grub)...and tonight I caught him giving them slivers from his rib eye steak(something I said he should not do).
Rufus also does Pasha's trick of eyeballing him when he has cream and ice cream...waiting for his share, licking out the dish.
During the week I wrote a letter to Deborah, the lady I bought the kittens from. I just wanted her to know that the two of them had settled in well and were being pampered. If it had been me who had let them go to a new home I would have wanted to know how they were doing.
Mostly they have stayed in the living room, but over the last week they have been allowed to chase up and down the stairs(a stuffed mouse in the mouth of one of them...which they have fought over).
Someone left the bathroom door open.
Now I really did not think that there was much for them to get into in the bathroom.
I was wrong. Ruby managed to get behind the toilet and from there behind the bath and under the floor boards.
I could hear her moving around, but she still doesn't answer to her name. She might turn round and look disdainfully at me when I call her, but as far as coming when she is called - come on folks - she's a cat. They do what they want, when they want.
Anyway, I felt that she would surface when she was fed upof exploring. Himself did not like this idea(it was he who left the door open).
He wanted her to be where she could be seen.
Have you seen the advert for Dreamees?
Well, my two might not jump through walls( thank goodness), but they will do almost anything else to get these treats. So I took a packet of these treats upstairs and gave them a shake near where she had disappeared.
In a few seconds she was out. OK, she was coated in plaster dust, muck and cobwebs...but she had surfaced.
Now the bathroom door stays firmly closed to prevent further explorations under the floorboards.
In a couple of weeks both of them will be going to have their bits dealt with...we do not want any kittens from these two...they will be microchipped too, just in case they make a bid for freedom(though this will be firmly discouraged).
