The lockdown.

If my dear old Ma had been alive, then you would have been reading my name in the local papers on a very regular basis...like every week.

I would have visited her every day. Firstly to check that she was alright, and secondly to deliver whatever her needs required.

This lockdown has been a chaotic thing......
Matt Hancock said that all us crumblies had misinterpreted the rules about what we had to do......that was we were to stay at home....to get food and medicines delivered as needed.....that we should not go out.....basically that we were under house arrest purely on the basis of age.

How can that be acceptable?
There was also the instruction that this isolation was to be practised by those who had underlying health issues.....well, I guess that was understandable.
Of course those showing what could be symptoms of the illness were to isolate full stop.
That was fine too.
Except other measures which would have offered protection to the public were not empowered.
Like the fact that planes could bring any number of people into the country with not a sign of any health check, no requirement to quarantine.

So all this self righteous indignation about a government aide driving a couple of hundred miles up the country seems a bit rich to me.....but then it would, because I have questioned many of the things that were supposedly done to safeguard both us and the NHS.
Like why weren't all patients who were suspected to have Covid 19 not isolated in facilities that took just those cases....nursed by staff who were only going to be looking after these?
No they were put into DGH's.
Why wasn't a program of testing started at the earliest moment.....with the testing of front line staff done on a weekly basis.....and those who might have symptoms tested and removed from their family homes to isolation units rather than in family homes...creating viral hotspots.

The fear that was provoked on behalf of the government was whipped up by the media.
If I had been left to my own devices I would have changed my life very little.
As it is...I have done what has been asked of me.....and in the process I have undoubtedly diminished my immune systems ability to work well when lockdown ends.
The immune system relies on bugs and bacteria we come into contact with every day to allow it to perform well.
If it is not allowed to perform its usual tasks then it sometimes starts attacking itself...creating auto immune disease and allergies.
All of this was based on a flawed and questionable model.

Cashy testing should have been a priority.....and my comment was at the earliest opportunity......how did they determine those who had coronavirus who went to hospital?
They tested.....and you could not get a test if you were not in hospital.
Other countries were testing.....so why were we so late to test?
All front line staff should have been subject to testing.....and on a regular basis.

yep i know but reports said the test was not reliable at the start?surely if that was so then when they came up with one that was then they would have to get loads made? way i look at it many are having a pop at them but this was something nothing was known about, every country seemed to me to be struggling.

So Cashy are you telling me that the hospital tests were unreliable?..when they were telling us so many people tested positive....because they were telling us that people were testing positive.....BUT.....it was only possible to get a test if you were in hospital......that is where the failings were....tests were available for hospital cases. Don't tell me that it was not possible to get tests made...they were being made for hospitals.Resources should have been freed up to test not just the patients, but front line staff....and then these tests should have been rolled out for others too.
Do you think that the costs would have been equal to what is currently being paid out now by government?
Or might they have been less?
There is one thing for sure, more people might have been allowed to carry on working.....there might have been less fear, and there certainly would not have been the catastrophic effects on the economy.

I know that there was not much known about the virus(well, here anyway....I am pretty sure that China had knowledge and information....that they withheld....and that should be treated like a war crime).....whatever, there were things that could have been done better, differently....but we know for next time......and a lot of those old folk have been culled(and maybe that was the aim....however conspiratorial that sounds)

Oh and Cashy I am not having a pop at you....just the powers that be that ran round like headless chickens.....
I still think there is more to this than is being let on.
