I really am a creature of habit, especially when I'm on nights. I have a very definite routine for night shifts and I never change it in any way.
When I'm starting nights and am going to be working my first night, I get up at 7.30am that day. I walk the dog, go to Asda and clean up a bit in the house. I go back to bed at 1.30pm and sleep until 4pm (ish). I then have a shower and a second breakfast of cereal, get my food ready for work and doss on the computer for a while. I then get ready and go.
When I get home in the morning I feed the dog and let her out. My mum walks the dog for me later in the day, so I'm really lucky that I don't have to let her drag me out for a walk. After the dog is sorted I go straight to bed, it's normally about 9am by then. I get up at 4pm regardless of whether I've slept, feed the dog and have a brew whilst reading Accyweb. I then have a shower and some breakfast cereal and watch the news whilst reading e mails and dossing on the computer. I get my face on, get dressed and go.
This routine continues throughout my night shifts regardless of whether I'm on for 4 nights or 7 nights. I never do any cleaning, shopping or ironing until my nights finish. It's a lazy routine and I sometimes wish that I was one of these people who is full of energy, but I wouldn't change my routine for anything. I like it.....
