I took myself off down the main street.
Ma had asked for some magazines and some baby wipes(for her tender little places).....so I sought out these items.
I had discovered on unpacking, that I had not brought a hair brush or comb with me.......so I had to get one......could you imagine how I would look after five days of not having my barnet combed......a raggedy haystack comes to mind.
I bought a cheap comb....57 pence......I wasn't going to be buying a brush, as I have a good selection...unfortunately, at home.
I treated myself to a coffee and sat there watching the world go by........I looked across at the church clock. It said 4.30.
I drained my cup and went back to the hotel.
Ma was so relaxed that she had nodded off.
I could have made off will all our worldly goods before she woke up......it was the rustling of the bags that woke her.
she asked what time it was....I looked at my watch.......3.45...huh?
Then it dawned on me.......the clocks had gone back that weekend....the church clock had not been altered.......so i had time to rest and relax before needing to get ready to go down to dinner.
Ma asked if I knew what it was for Dinner....she likes to know at the start of each day. I hadn't seen the menu, so i was no help.....but we were over the kitchen and the smells of cooking were wafting our way, and made Ma feel really hungry.
I lay down on the bed and found myself dozing....not something I like to do during the day.......I blamed the Piriton!
Soon it was time for a shower and to get dressed for dinner.
Ma was horrified when she saw the rash on my back.......she said it looked like I had Scarlet Fever.......I was glad that I couldn't see it.
We went down to the dining room and were shown to a table, we were joined by another couple of ladies...mother-in law and daughter in law.
We introduced ourselves. The ladies seemed a bit 'frosty' at first...but as usual Ma soon had them chattering away...the ice was broken.
The food was delicious.......and some of the choices were things that I had never heard of.....Lamb Caul ?
Do you know what that is?
Well, it is a Lamb Casserole.......Ma had two starters instead of a starter and a main course.
I had a vegetarian rissoto, mainly because I can't eat lamb, and the other alternative was some fish or other.....lemon sole I think it was.
I gave the dessert a miss.
There was entertainment each evening, bingo, quizzes and music.....but we gave that a miss too.
I was going to read, Ma was going to watch TV......neither of us managed to do either, as we both fell soundly asleep and didn't waken until 7am next morning.
