My trip to Manchester was very carefully considered.
I didn't really want to be going anywhere...but needs must when the devil is behind you with a big stick.
I considered other venues for my shopping.
Preston - yes, well Preston is alright, but the shops are very spread out.....two shopping malls.....M&S is OK but I looked up at the leaden skies and could see myself getting sodden on my outing and there is NO The Works in Preston(or not to my knowledge anyway).
I thought Blackburn and shuddered. I can't tell you just how much I dislike that place for shopping.
I thought Burnley, but again the shops are not up to much and are spread out with little cover from the deluge.
Southport - no, not a starter......too long to get there and I would get myself sidetracked.
It has to be Manchester...I could get off the bus at the Barton Arcade and cut through to St Ann's Square......cut through the Exchange arcade and I am under cover.
M&S is better in Manchester......the Arndale is all under cover and has a fair variety of shops.......and it has The Works.
Mick I know that they have a branch in Ossy Mills, but have you been recently? It is pitiful and poor with a very limited range.
They had an offer on of 3 books for £10 and I wanted to get two science books for Spindles and another book for the son of a friend.
In the end Spindles got clothes and the other little lad will be getting some money(I bet he won't buy a book with it).
I was only in Manchester for an hour and a quarter, got what I wanted...had a bus ride and a bit of a 'mong'.
Had we been able to get out and about over the last four weekends none of this would have been necessary.......but that's life..it doesn't always go to plan.
Anyway...I am definitely done now.
All gifts wrapped , tagged and waiting to go(some have been dropped off today).
So I defininately feel like I have a handle on the festivities.
